McKinstry went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Rays.

While Detroit's offense didn't really get rolling in this one, McKinstry managed to continue his strong July. The utility player is batting .310 this month with five extra-base hits in nine games. Overall, McKinstry is batting .286 with a robust .826 OPS, and he's been a pleasant surprise from an offensive standpoint for the surging Tigers. His efforts have also earned him his first career All-Star nod, as he was recently named as an injury replacement for Houston's Jeremy Pena (rib).

The Guardians announced Wednesday that Ramirez won't participate in 2025 All-Star Game festivities next week while he focuses on recovery and preparation for the second half of the season.

Though the historically durable Ramirez has thus far avoided any trips to the injured list this season, he's been banged up at various points through the first three-plus months of the campaign. As Zack Meisel of The Athletic notes, Ramirez sprained his wrist in late March, sprained his ankle in early May, and was most recently hit in the forearm by a pitch in late June. None of the injuries are expected to hinder Ramirez moving forward, and he'll remain in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale in Houston. Expect Ramirez to continue handling his usual everyday role during the Guardians' four-game series against the White Sox later this week to close out the first half before he uses the All-Star break for extended rest and recovery. The Astros' Isaac Paredes is slated to replace Ramirez on the American League All-Star roster.

The Red Sox optioned Eaton to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Eaton had started at third base and batted out of the leadoff spot while the Red Sox faced left-handed pitchers in each of the past four games, but he'll end up losing his spot on the 26-man active roster with Boston bringing Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday. During his three-plus-week stay with the Red Sox, Eaton went 6-for-24 (.250 average) with zero home runs, three stolen bases, five runs and one RBI in 14 games.

Shaw is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

Shaw had started each of the previous seven contests but will get a breather Wednesday. The Cubs will turn to Jon Berti at third base.

Vientos is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Baltimore.

The Orioles are starting right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, marking the fourth straight game in which Vientos is absent from the lineup while the Mets face a righty. He's gone just 2-for-27 with a 0:9 BB:K since coming off the injured list June 27 and looks to have moved into a short-side platoon role. Ronny Mauricio will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday.

Arenado (shoulder) will start at third base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

Arenado missed the previous three contests with a right shoulder impingement and was also out of commission for a couple games last week due to a finger issue. However, he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday.

Peraza will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Peraza will pick up his fourth consecutive start and his third straight at the hot corner, where he looks to be the Yankees' new top option after Jazz Chisholm was moved back to second base earlier this week. Since the Yankees aren't comfortable playing the 36-year-old DJ LeMahieu at the hot corner at this stage of his career, Peraza doesn't face any obvious threats for his starting gig, but it wouldn't be surprising if the team pursued an upgrade at the position prior to the July 31 trade deadline. Peraza has been a well-below-average hitter over his 146 plate appearances in the majors this season, slashing just .157/.226/.261 with three home runs and a 28.8 percent strikeout rate.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Bregman (quadriceps) has "a really good chance" of being activated from the 10-day injured list before the All-Star break, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Cora previously didn't rule out Bregman from returning this week but noted that it would depend on how the third baseman came out of workouts Monday and Tuesday. Given Cora's optimistic tone Wednesday, it's safe to assume Bregman's workouts went well. On Thursday, the Red Sox begin a four-game set against the Rays to close out the first half, and Bregman will likely be activated at some point during that series. Bregman has been out since late May due to a strained right quad.

Lee is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cubs.

Lee will grab a seat Wednesday after starting both of the previous two contests at second base for the Twins. Willi Castro will receive the start at the keystone and will bat second.

Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

After starting in each of the last 31 contests, Clement will get a well-deserved breather for the day game after a night game. With a respectable .722 OPS over 328 plate appearances in addition to providing excellent defense at multiple infield spots, Clement has been an indispensable piece for the Blue Jays in 2025, but he could fade into more of a part-time role against right-handed pitching once Toronto gets healthier. Clement has been far more effective versus lefties (.396/.438/.635 slash line, 198 wRC+) than righties (.244/.283/.273 slash line, 57 wRC+) this season.
