Machado (hand) isn't starting Friday against the Red Sox, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

X-rays revealed a fracture in Machado's left hand Wednesday, and the Padres have yet to provide a timeline for his return. He's considered day-to-day for now, but a trip to the injured list is still possible. Ha-Seong Kim will slide over to third base Friday, moving Jake Cronenworth to second base and giving Brandon Dixon a start at first base.

Muncy isn't starting Friday against the Cardinals, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

The Cardinals will begin Friday's contest with southpaw Steven Matz on the mound, providing a good excuse to give the lefty-hitting Muncy a breather. Chris Taylor will take over at third base and bat fifth.

Garcia is not in the Royals' lineup for Friday's game in Chicago against the White Sox.

Garcia has been the Royals' primary third baseman of late while also being mixed in at other positions, but he'll begin this contest on the bench. Hunter Dozier will cover the hot corner.

Paredes is absent from the Rays' lineup for Friday's game versus the Brewers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Taylor Walls will get the call at third base. Paredes has a .978 OPS this month and had a two-homer game earlier this week but has been on the bench two of the last five contests.

LeMahieu is not in the Yankees' lineup for Friday's game in Cincinnati.

It's a routine day off for the infielder. Oswaldo Cabrera will play third base while LeMahieu begins the contest on the bench.

Henderson is not in the Orioles' lineup for Friday's game in Toronto, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson will take a seat against left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The rookie infielder has gone just 4-for-30 at the plate versus southpaws this season. Joey Ortiz will get the start at third base.

Ramirez was activated from the bereavement list by the Guardians on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez missed a series against the White Sox but is back for this weekend's set versus the Mets. He's at third base and batting third against former Cleveland teammate Carlos Carrasco.

Segura went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Nationals.

Hitting leadoff for the first time this season despite a weak .276 OBP, the veteran infielder drove in Xavier Edwards with a single in the third inning before stealing his third bag of the year. Segura's reached base safely in six straight games, which might help explain his elevation to the top of the order, but he's still batting only .233 (10-for-43) in May with zero homers, one stolen base, two RBI and three runs in 13 contests.

Baty could shift to left field on occasion as the Mets try to find ways to get Mark Vientos into the lineup, Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic report.

Vientos' hot bat at Triple-A prompted a promotion, but after homering in his big-league debut Wednesday, the 23-year-old was on the bench Thursday. He's blocked defensively at the infield corners and Pete Alonso isn't budging off first base, which leaves Vientos batting for at-bats at DH unless Baty can be moved elsewhere. Baty has seen sporadic action in left over the last few years in the minors, and given that he's a better athlete than Vientos, he appears more capable of handling the shift. There's also the question of whether the 23-year-old Baty has even earned an everyday spot yet -- through 26 games in the majors this season, Baty is slashing just .241/.323/.386 with three homers.

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two total RBI in Thursday's loss to Miami.

Candelario produced two of Washington's three runs in the contest, swatting a 443-foot solo homer to center field in the fourth inning and doubling home a run in the eighth. The third baseman has been on a tear at the plate of late, notching four straight multi-hit performances. Over that stretch, he's slashing .667/.688/1.200 with five extra-base hits, three RBI and four runs.
