Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Sitting out Friday
Wisdom is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Red Sox, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Cubs will go with Miles Mastrobuoni at third base instead. Wisdom had started three of the last four games at the hot corner prior to the All-Star break, but his hold on the third base job seems pretty tenuous.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Beginning rehab assignment
Moncada (back) is beginning his rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Charlotte, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jake Burger, who has been playing third base with Moncada on the shelf, has had the better overall season, but he's hitting .176 with three home runs and a 32 percent strikeout rate over his last 20 games. Given how much Moncada struggled (78 wRC+, 0.18 BB/K) before his latest injury, the club may opt to give him a longer rehab assignment than usual to see if he can get into a rhythm at the plate.

Zack Gelof CF | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Promotion official
Gelof's contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas ahead of Friday's game against the Twins.
Gelof, who is widely viewed to be Oakland's second baseman of the future, should play pretty regularly now that he's officially on the active roster. The righty-hitting 23-year-old slashed .304/.401/.529 with 12 home runs, 20 steals and a 27.9 percent strikeout rate in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. A .410 BABIP propped up his batting average, but Gelof should at least chip in stolen bases and occasional power as a rookie.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Covering hot corner
Longoria is starting at third base and batting sixth Friday in Toronto.
Emmanuel Rivera started three of the last four games before the All-Star break at third base, but it will be Longoria there to kick off the second half as Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo continues to mix and match with the two at the hot corner. Longoria has an .828 OPS in 2023 but finished the first half hitless in his last three starts.

Zack Gelof CF | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Coming up for MLB debut Friday
Gelof will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas by the Athletics on Friday to make his major-league debut, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Gelof, 23, has collected a .304/.401/.529 batting line with 12 home runs and 20 stolen bases at Vegas in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season. He's been particularly hot over his last 10 games with a .413/.426/.870 line, five homers and three steals. Gelof has played second base exclusively this season and should take over as the everyday player at the keystone for the A's. He'll be weighed down by his team and ballpark but nonetheless should be rostered in deeper fantasy leagues.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Nursing lower-body issue
Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed after Sunday's loss to the Cubs that Donaldson has been dealing with a lower-body issue since the team's last road trip, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Boone made the revelation after Donaldson appeared to tweak his right calf during his first plate appearance Sunday, although he wound up staying in and finishing the game. For now, it looks like Donaldson will avoid the injured list and continue to be used more at designated hitter. However, given the 37-year-old's lengthy history of calf problems, it's something to monitor.

Warming Bernabel 3B | WAS
Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Closing in on return to Double-A
Bernabel (back) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 28 and has gone 11-for-33 with two home runs and four doubles over eight games.
Bernabel has resided on Double-A Hartford's 7-day injured list since May 26 with a back injury, but he looks like he could be activated shortly after the minor-league All-Star break. Prior to being shut down in late May, Bernabel had posted a .630 OPS over 126 plate appearances with Hartford.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Athletics' Jace Peterson: On base three times in loss
Peterson went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.
Peterson closed out the first half on a high note with his first multi-hit effort since June 14. The veteran infielder has been mired in a prolonged 18-game slump since that point that had seen him produce just a .113/.176/.194 slash line across 69 plate appearances, and given the Athletics' non-contending status, it's certainly possible he increasingly cedes playing time to younger options during the second half of the campaign.

Emmanuel Rivera 3B | BAL
Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Enters break on down beat
Rivera started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Pirates.
Rivera and Evan Longoria have jockeyed for starts at the hot corner with the former's playing time on an uptick. Unfortunately, Rivera heads into the All-Star break hitless in the last 11 at-bats. After his callup in late April, Rivera posted a .361/.391/.472 line over his first 33 games, but that dropped to .145/.158/.164 in the previous 14 contests. There's room for improvement at third base; the Diamondbacks rank 21st with a .686 OPS from its third basemen.

Tyler Freeman 3B | COL
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: On base three times Sunday
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Royals.
Freeman notched multiple hits and a steal for his second straight start; however, his playing time remains sparse and his only path to a more consistent role seems to be if someone ahead of him gets injured. The 24-year-old has done well when given an opportunity and is now slashing .308/.352/.400 with six extra-base hits, four RBI, 11 runs, three steals and a 4:11 BB:K in 72 plate appearances.
