Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game with a finger issue, but expects to be back Friday, according to MLB.com.

Arenado says he's been dealing with the injury for a while now. He says he's tried using padding, but that hasn't helped. Arenado is hitting .271/.304/.418 in 431 at-bats. 

The Rockies announced Wednesday that third baseman Nolan Arenado suffered a right thumb contusion in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Arenado, who went 1 for 2 before exiting the game, is day-to-day.

Arenado has hit .271/.304/.418 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI in 431 at-bats.

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura is out of the team's starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates due to an illness, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Segura, who is leading the National League with 39 steals, has hit .304/.337/.438 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI in 543 at-bats.

Phillies third baseman Cody Asche clubbed his third home run Wednesday against the Nationals.

Asche finished the game with three hits. He scored one run and drove in three. Asche is hitting .266/.317/.447 in 94 at-bats. 

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe had four hits, including a homer, in Tuesday's extra-inning game at Houston. Plouffe went deep in the third inning for his 14th of the year.

Plouffe went 4 for 6 in the game with the two-run homer. He drove in two runs and is batting .245 on the year. The 27-year-old has hit in 10 of his last 11 games and has homered in back-to-back contests for Minnesota.

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado doubled and went 2 for 5 Monday during a 10-8 loss to the Dodgers.

Arenado drove in his 47th run of the seaon and also scored a run for the Rockies in the loss. He's batting .271 on the season.

The 22-year-old has gone 13 for 39 (.333) over his last 10 games with a homer, four doubles, five RBI and eight runs scored.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe homered and recorded three hits Monday during a 10-6 win at Houston. Plouffe went deep for the 13th time in the second inning for a solo shot. 

Plouffe finished the game 3 for 3 with a walk and the one RBI. He was caught stealing for the first time on the year and is batting .239 for the Twins. 

The 27-year-old Plouffe has gone 9 for 23 (.391) over a seven-game hitting streak. He has two doubles, a homer and the one RBI over that stretch. 

Phillies third baseman Cody Asche returned to the lineup from a hamstring injury Sunday against the Cubs. Asche went hitless in four at-bats in the return and is hitting .244/.299/.400.
