Indians' Jose Ramirez: Pair of steals in loss
Ramirez went 0-for-2 with two walks, two stolen bases and a run scored in Friday's 10-3 loss to Milwaukee.
The third baseman continues to have the freedom to run, as he's now recorded 12 of his 23 stolen bases this year since the start of August. Ramirez was held hitless for the second time in three games. He's slashing .259/.352/.546 with an 11.4 percent walk rate and 13.6 strikeout rate through 543 plate appearances. Brian Anderson RF | ATL
Marlins' Brian Anderson: Scheduled for surgery
Anderson will undergo shoulder surgery next week, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Anderson has been sideliend since late August with a left shoulder subluxation. Previous reports indicated that he would likely miss the remainder of the season, and that appears to be locked in now with the news that he'll require surgery. Isan Diaz has served as the primary third baseman in his absence.

Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI
Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Battling wrist pain
Sosa is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds due to pain in his left wrist, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Sosa suffered the injury while attempting a diving play Wednesday. He didn't play Thursday and won't start Friday, but he's merely considered day-to-day, so it's possible he returns to the lineup before too long. Paul DeJong will remain the starter at shortstop.
-
Ramon Urias 3B | STL
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Still not starting
Urias (upper leg) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.
Urias continues to deal with upper leg soreness and will be out of the lineup for a fifth consecutive game Friday. He appeared off the bench Wednesday, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be available in Friday's series opener. Kelvin Gutierrez will start at the hot corner and bat seventh.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Reds' Kyle Farmer: Away on paternity leave
Farmer was placed on the paternity list Friday.
Players typically spend three days on paternity leave. That would keep Farmer out for the entirety of the weekend series in St. Louis but leave him ready to return Tuesday in Pittsburgh following Monday's off day. Jose Barrero was called up to take his place on the roster and will start at shortstop Friday.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: On bench against lefty
Moustakas will sit against lefty Jon Lester and the Cardinals on Friday.
The Reds have stuck to their plan of platooning Moustakas and Eugenio Suarez at the hot corner, as Moustakas hasn't made a single start against a southpaw since returning from a heel injury in early August. Suarez starts at the position Friday, but Moustakas should return to the lineup against righty Miles Mikolas on Saturday.

Josh Jung 3B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Jung: MLB debut not expected this season
Jung is not expected to make his major-league debut this season, Chris Halicke of SI.com reports.
The Rangers' top prospect has held his own since being promoted to Triple-A Round Rock last month, slashing .246/.348/.509 with three homers, six doubles and six RBI across 66 plate appearances. He's on track to be an important piece for the big club early on in 2022, but he won't be promoted this season unless Texas suffers several injuries to its infield in the coming weeks.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Benefits from scoring change
Moncada was awarded a hit, which was originally scored as an error, in Sunday's loss to the Royals, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The play was originally ruled an error on Kansas City second baseman Whit Merrifield and contributed to an 0-for-4 night, which snapped a 17-game hitting streak. The ruling change, plus Moncada's three-hit night Tuesday, updated the streak to 19 consecutive games, which was then snapped by an 0-for-3 on Wednesday.
