Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Marlins' Jean Segura: Gets scheduled day off
Segura is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Giants, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Segura will get a breather after he's been dealing with pectoral discomfort this week, going 1-for-5 with a run scored over the first two games of the series. Jon Berti will start at third base while Garrett Hampson enters the lineup at shortstop and bats ninth in the series finale against San Francisco.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Sits in series finale
Senzel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Upon returning from the injured list last Thursday, Senzel proceeded to start in each of the Reds' last six games, moving between center field and third base. Senzel batted just .190 over those contests, and though he'll take a seat in the series finale, the 27-year-old still looks like he'll receive a trial in a near-everyday role while Spencer Steer (knee) is day-to-day and while Joey Votto (biceps/shoulder) remains on the injured list.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Tallies three hits
Davis went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Marlins.
Davis has multiple hits in three of his last four games. He's added six RBI and two runs scored in that span, but he wasn't involved in the Giants' lone run-producing play Tuesday, which was a two-run home run by Mike Yastrzemski in the first inning. Davis is slashing .347/.389/.633 with four home runs, 13 RBI, seven runs scored and two doubles through 54 plate appearances. His solid hitting has earned him a near-everyday role to begin 2023.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Not in starting lineup Tuesday
Baty is not in the Mets' lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.
Eduardo Escobar will start at third base and bat eighth versus left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Baty is a big-time talent but has struggled against left-handed pitching as a professional. He should start against most, if not all, right-handed hurlers.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Marlins' Jean Segura: Added back to lineup Tuesday
Segura was unscratched from the lineup Tuesday against the Giants, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Segura will start at third base and bat ninth versus the Giants and left-hander Alex Wood after being removed from the lineup for a short period due to what was labeled as pectoral discomfort. It's clearly nothing serious. Garrett Hampson is again on the bench for Miami.

Marlins' Jean Segura: Scratched with pectoral discomfort
Segura was scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to pectoral discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Jon Berti will slide from shortstop to third base, with Garrett Hampson hopping into the Marlins' lineup as the starter at short versus the Giants and lefty Alex Wood. The severity of Segura's pectoral issue is not yet known.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Getting breather Tuesday
Arenado is not in the lineup Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks.
Taylor Motter is playing third base and batting eighth, with Alec Burleson taking a turn at DH and hitting third. This appears to be a routine day of rest for Arenado, who has gone 22-for-70 (.314) on the season.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Plates run in 2023 debut
Baty went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 8-6 win against the Dodgers.
Baty was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday and was immediately placed in the starting lineup, playing third base and batting eighth. The 23-year-old grounded out in his first at-bat before coming through with a two-out, run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Baty looks to be in line for the lion's share of playing time at the hot corner for New York moving forward, as Eduardo Escobar is batting just .125 on the campaign.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Out for first game of doubleheader
Sosa (back) is out of the lineup for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Sosa has been sidelined since experiencing discomfort in his lower back Saturday, but it doesn't sound like anything overly concerning. Josh Harrison is playing third base and batting ninth for the Phillies in the first game of the twin bill at Guaranteed Rate Field.
