  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Smacks 30th homer

Devers went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run Wednesday against the Giants.

Devers took Jeff Samardzija deep for his 30th home run of the season. It was his first long ball since Sept. 3 and only his third in the last month. Still, Devers is enjoying a breakout campaign, highlighted by an impressive .310/362/.557 line but also supplemented by 119 runs scored and 108 RBI across 146 games.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Hits and fields

Ramirez (hand) hit in the batting cage Wednesday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Ramirez also took infield practice, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. He's not expected to be back by the end of the regular season after fracturing his hand in late August but still has a shot to return during the playoffs.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Remains out Wednesday

Candelario (triceps) will sit Wednesday against Cleveland.

Candelario was scratched Tuesday after getting hit in the triceps the day before. He'll sit for a second day in a row Wednesday, with Brandon Dixon starting at first base.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Scratched from Tuesday's lineup

Candelario was scratched from the lineup Tuesday against Cleveland after getting hit in the triceps Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

The severity of the injury is not yet clear, but he'll miss at least one start. Ronny Rodriguez enters the lineup at first base.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Sits again Tuesday

Astudillo remains on the bench Tuesday against the White Sox.

Astudillo started fairly frequently earlier in the month, but the return of Marwin Gonzalez from an abdominal injury appears to have cut into his playing time. Gonzalez starts at first base for the second straight game.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Heads to bench

Astudillo is not starting Monday against the White Sox.

Astudillo has been given plenty of opportunities in September, starting nine times this month. He's hit for a decent average but has done little else, posting a .273/.351/.303 slash line, though he does have a characteristically low 5.4 percent strikeout rate over that stretch.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Keeps knocking them out of park

Chapman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

He can't seem to do much else except hit homers lately, but Chapman does have 10 RBI in September on just six hits courtesy of that power display. The slugging third baseman is otherwise hitting an anemic .133 since the calendar flipped, although fantasy managers are undoubtedly benefiting from the five times he's left the yard over the last 18 contests.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Collects three hits, steals base

Moncada went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-10 loss to Seattle.

Moncada has now reached double-digit stolen bases in two straight seasons with his 10th of the year Sunday. The 24-year-old has knocked three hits in four of his last six games, boosting his average to .308 and his OPS to .900.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Remains on becnch

Candelario will sit again Sunday against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Candelario owns an unimpressive .200/.349/.314 slash line in 10 games this September. John Hicks starts at first base for the second game in a row.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Smacks three-run homer

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 8-6 win over the Rangers.

The Athletics found themselves behind 3-0 after the second inning, but Chapman took Rangers starter Mike Minor deep in the third to even the score. It was the first of four homers for the A's in the contest. The third baseman is up to 33 homers, 84 RBI and 95 runs scored while slashing .251/.345/.514 in 144 games this season.
