  • Blue Jays' Jordan Groshans: Swats first homer in return

Groshans went 2-for-5 with his first home run of the season for Double-A New Hampshire on Thursday.

Out since May 18 while managing a sore back, Groshans made a quick impact in his return to the lineup Thursday. The 21-year-old has a seven-game hitting streak extending back to before his layoff, and he's slashing .261/.358/.370 with a 7:15 BB:K through 12 contests in his first look at upper-minors pitching.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Slides into leadoff

Madrigal batted leadoff for a second consecutive day and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Thursday's 5-1 win over Baltimore.

He filled in at leadoff for Tim Anderson, who sat out games Wednesday and Thursday due to a sore left thumb. Madrigal reached base seven times in 10 plate appearances during those two games and has a .908 OPS when batting leadoff this season. Anderson is due back Friday, so Madrigal could return to his customary nine hole, or bat second if Adam Eaton (hamstring) remains out.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Scores twice Thursday

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-2 win over Detroit.

The third baseman has been a bit cold in the last week, going 5-for-25 (.200) with two doubles, an RBI and five runs scored in his last seven games. Ramirez's multi-hit effort Thursday was his first since May 15. The 28-year-old has a .256/.347/.535 slash line with 12 home runs, 26 RBI, 34 runs scored and six stolen bases through 199 plate appearances.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Sits for afternoon game

Urshela will sit for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against Toronto.

The Yankees will likely give many of the regulars a breather in one of the two contests. DJ LeMahieu will slide over to the hot corner for the afternoon game, but Urshela should return for the nightcap.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Fuels comeback win

Devers went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and another run scored in Wednesday's 9-5 win over Atlanta.

Devers' two-run homer in the fourth inning tied the game, then his sixth-inning double plated the the go-ahead run. The third baseman is on a five-game run during which he's homered three times and driven in nine runs. He leads MLB with 43 RBI and is fifth with 14 home runs.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Moves to bench Wednesday

Walls is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will head to the bench for the first time since being promoted from Triple-A Durham on Saturday. Joey Wendle will check in at shortstop in place of Walls, who has gotten off to a 4-for-14 start to his big-league career.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Returns from paternity list

LeMahieu is batting leadoff and playing first base in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

He missed just one game while on paternity leave. LeMahieu has fallen into a cold 2-for-18 stretch in his last five games, but he has the potential for a solid performance against Toronto starter Alek Manoah, who makes his MLB debut Wednesday.

  • Drew Maggi 3B | PIT

Twins' Drew Maggi: Returns from IL

Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Maggi (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Maggi hadn't played for St. Paul since May 9 due to the injury. The 32-year-old third baseman has yet to make his MLB debut and is viewed as more of an organizational depth piece rather than a prospect at this point.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Sitting out series finale

Donaldson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Donaldson will sit for the second consecutive Wednesday, breaking a streak of seven consecutive starts. The 35-year-old managed only two hits in 22 at-bats over that stretch, with his average plummeting to .236 on the season as a result. Miguel Sano will spell Donaldson at third base in the series finale.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Three more knocks in win

Madrigal went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and was caught stealing in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Cardinals.

Madrigal is fourth on the White Sox with 44 base hits, a figure that could increase if his BABIP would cooperate. He's posted a .303 BABIP (league average is .289) while the three teammates ahead of him -- Yoan Moncada (.400), Yermin Mercedes (.388) and Tim Anderson (.367) -- have been considerably luckier than the second baseman.
