Regular third baseman Trevor Plouffe moves across the diamond to first base to replace Mauer in the field. Plouffe gets his ninth start there.

Danny Valencia has been scratched from the Athletics' lineup on Saturday against the Orioles. Valencia had been penciled in to play third base, but he is dealing with soreness in his back and hamstring.
Brett Lawrie, who originally had the day off on Saturday, will handle the hot corner and bat sixth.

Orioles 3B Manny Machado collects four hits in Saturday's win
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado went 4 for 5 at the plate to help lead the O's to a 5-0 win over the Angels.
Machado hit his 24th home run of the season off Garrett Richards in the fifth inning. The solo shot was his only RBI in the game.
Prior to Saturday's four-hit game, Machado was hitting .277 with three home runs and six RBI in his last 16 games.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson homers in third straight on Wednesday
Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson homered for the third straight game on Wednesday, as the Jays outslugged the Twins 9-7. Donaldson blasted a two-run shot in the first inning, giving him consecutive games with a first-inning big fly.
Donaldson, who also walked and scored later in the game, has four homers over his past five games, as he continues to be an offensive force atop the Blue Jays' lineup in 2015.

Indians third baseman Giovanny Urshela helped end a marathon against the Angels with a two-run game-winning home run in the 12th inning.
Urshela's fourth career homer was his first game winner and his first hit later than the seventh inning.
Urshela went 3 for 5 in the game with a double, snapping a four-game, 15-at bat hitless streak.

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson blasts solo home run in win Tuesday
Third baseman Josh Donaldson got the Blue Jays on the board early, smacking a solo home run in the first inning of Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Twins. Donaldson belted his 28th homer of the season with one out in the first.
It was his only hit of the game, but he has now homered in back-to-back games. He also has recorded five home runs and 12 RBI over his past nine games for the Jays.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson's 27th home run propelled the Blue Jays to a 5-1 win against the Twins on Monday. Donaldson broke open a 1-all tie in the fifth inning with an opposite-field, two-run homer off Ervin Santana.
Donaldson, who also had his 29th double in the game, has homered nine times since July 1. He is also batting .283 (30 for 106) with 10 doubles and 28 RBI in his last 27 games.
