    Bae will take a seat against southpaw Drew Smyly for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs. Mark Mathias will hit eighth and play second base while Bae gets a breather.

    Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

    The Diamondbacks haven't provided an explanation for his Marte's absence from the lineup, but he may be dealing with an injury or illness since he was also on the bench for Tuesday's 15-3 loss. Geraldo Perdomo will cover the keystone in place of Marte, who had produced an .878 OPS over his first 10 games of June.

    Garcia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Astros.

    Garcia will take a seat as the Nationals face off with left-hander Framber Valdez on the mound. The switch-hitting Ildemaro Vargas will take over at second base and bat sixth against Houston.

    Torres is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Mets.

    Torres will get a breather after he went 1-for-5 in Tuesday's 7-6 victory. DJ LeMahieu will slide over to second base while Josh Donaldson enters the lineup at third base and bats third in the series finale with the Mets.

    Orioles' Joey Ortiz: Called up Wednesday

    Ortiz was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

    Ortiz will return to the big leagues after being sent down May 26. The shortstop has produced a .259 average with a double, four RBI and four runs scored over 27 at-bats over 11 games with Baltimore this season. Ortiz continues to rake at Triple-A, batting .328 with 18 extra-base hits over 128 at-bats in 32 games, and he'll look to stick this time around with the Orioles. In order to make room on the major-league roster, Mark Kolozsvary was optioned to Norfolk on Wednesday.

    Giants' David Villar: Returns to majors

    The Giants recalled Villar from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He'll start at third base and bat eighth in the Giants' series finale in St. Louis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

    Villar will return to the major-league roster after being sent down May 30. The 26-year-old has struggled to a .135 average with four home runs, 11 RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base in 32 games with the Giants this season. With J.D. Davis (ankle) potentially set for a stint on the injured list, Villar could get another look as a regular in the San Francisco lineup.

    Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Two hits, homer off bench

    Biggio went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

    Biggio is now 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs in his last two games after going 1-for-12 in his previous six contests. The 28-year-old Biggio has primarily served in a utility role for Toronto this season, though he's seen his playing time tick up a bit with Brandon Belt (hamstring) on the IL. Through 109 plate appearances this year, Biggio is slashing .202/.275/.404 with six homers, 17 runs scored, 12 RBI and two steals.

    Orioles' Adam Frazier: Homers again Tuesday

    Frazier went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's victory over Toronto.

    Frazier got the Orioles started Tuesday with a two-run shot off Chris Bassitt in the second inning. The veteran second baseman now has two home runs over his last three games, giving him eight for the season -- just two shy of his career high. Frazier's now slashing .236/.300/.410 with 33 runs scored, 31 RBI and six steals through 235 plate appearances this season.

    Tigers' Zack Short: On bench for matinee game

    Short is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Atlanta.

    Andy Ibanez will step in at the keystone in place of Short, who went 5-for-19 with a double and five RBI while starting at second base in five of the Tigers' previous six games. Short will most likely be back in the lineup for the nightcap.

    Phillies' Bryson Stott: Homers as part of three-hit day

    Stott went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

    Stott added on to the Phillies' lead with a solo blast to right-center field to make it a 7-0 ballgame. He notched his third multi-hit effort over his last four games and is slashing .364/.429/.500 with five RBI, six runs and a 4:9 BB:K in 12 games since May 31. Stott has maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season thus far but was replaced in the leadoff spot earlier this month by Kyle Schwarber, with manager Rob Thompson looking to spark the offense. Schwarber has picked things up lately, but Stott could be given another shot to lead off if Schwarber's struggles return.
