  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Records fifth steal

Gimenez went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

After ending April with three straight multi-hit efforts, Gimenez has gone a mere 5-for-26 over seven contests to begin May. The steal was his first since April 28. The second baseman is at a .263/.333/.353 slash line through 151 plate appearances, but he's mustered just nine extra-base hits, including only one homer, after logging 15 long balls, 27 doubles and five triples in 153 games a year ago. Gimenez is also striking out at a career-low 15.9 percent rate, though he may need to give back some of his plate discipline to produce more power.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Hits bench against lefty

Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

The lefty-hitting Gorman will hit the bench for the third time in the four games while the Cardinals have faced a steady diet of left-handed pitching of late. The right-handed-hitting Jose Fermin will man the keystone while Gorman sits against Mets southpaw Jose Quintana.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Receiving breather Wednesday

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McNeil is likely just sitting out as part of a planned rest day, as he had started each of the Mets' last 30 games dating back to April 5. Joey Wendle will fill in for McNeil at the keystone.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Losing grip on regular role

Biggio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Biggio will hit the bench for the fifth time in six games, with three of those absences coming while the Blue Jays have faced left-handed starting pitchers and two coming versus righties. The 29-year-old has maintained a strong-side platoon role at second base for much of the season, but with his OPS sitting at .621 through 29 games, Biggio looks like he could lose work to Davis Schneider moving forward.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Cutting down on strikeout rate

Gonzales has a 17.4 percent strikeout rate across 132 plate appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Gonzales struck out at around a 28 percent clip for most of his stops in the minor leagues, so his current rate stands out positively. He's also posted a .254 ISO and 167 wRC+, albeit in his age-25 season. The Pirates have struggled to score runs consistently in the first full month of the new campaign, and Jared Triolo has only a .043 ISO and 67 wRC+ as the team's current regular second baseman. If Gonzales keeps hitting well, he could get a second shot at the majors in short order.

  • Zach Remillard 2B | CHW

White Sox's Zach Remillard: Back in big leagues

The White Sox selected Remillard's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

He'll take over the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster spots vacated by Robbie Grossman, who was traded to the Rangers on Wednesday. Remillard, 30, has slashed .250/.292/.316 over 165 plate appearances during the last two seasons with the White Sox. He will operate in a utility role and could get some starts versus southpaws.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Out of lineup with illness again

Rengifo (illness) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Rengifo will miss out on a fifth consecutive start while he continues to recover from an illness. With Rengifo stuck on the bench once again, the Angels will clear a spot in the infield for Ehire Adrianza, who will start at second base and bat leadoff Wednesday.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Connects on first homer of year

Lux went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins.

Lux sent one out off of George Soriano in the third for his first home run since Aug. 15, 2022. Lux has been seeing the ball better as of late despite owning just a .191 batting average. He has eight hits, five RBI and five runs over his last eight games. For the year, he's slashing .191/.258/.247 with seven RBI, 14 runs and an 8:22 BB:K in 97 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Goes deep in loss

India went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Arizona.

India's seventh-inning homer was his second of the season. A two-week stretch during which he's batted .343 (12-for-35) has pushed his average to .222. That ranks third among qualified hitters on the team, which ranks last in MLB with a .207 average.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Pops homer in win

Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 win over Cincinnati.

Marte clubbed the second of back-to-back home runs in a four-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach. It was the second straight game with a home run for Marte, who extended a hitting streak to eight games. His seven long balls are tied for the team lead with Christian Walker.
