  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Blasts first homer

Dubon went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Rays.

Dubon started for only the seventh time across 19 games in May and managed his first home run of the season Wednesday. He's gone 8-for-23 on the month but is still losing out on playing time to Jose Altuve and Brendan Rodgers.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Steals first bag of 2025

Massey went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, a run scored and a stolen base during Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Giants.

Massey corralled his second three-hit game of the season, smacking a trio of singles during the victory. He swiped second base following his first single, marking his first pilfer of the campaign. Since the start of May, Massey has gone 16-for-68 (.235) with five RBI and five runs scored.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Recovering from sore hand

Gonzales (ankle) hasn't appeared in any rehab games for Triple-A Indianapolis since Sunday after being hit by a pitch on his right hand, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Gonzales was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, but the transaction seemingly wasn't reflective of any major concern about the hand issue being a significant concern for the 25-year-old infielder, who has been on the shelf since March 28 due to a non-displaced left ankle fracture. X-rays on Gonzales' hand came back negative, and he's expected to be reassessed Thursday before the Pirates decide whether the soreness and swelling in his hand has subsided enough for him to return to game action at Indianapolis. Given the length of his absence due to the ankle injury, Gonzales will likely need at least a few more games in the minors to stack up at-bats and regain his timing at the dish before the Pirates activate him. He's first eligible for reinstatement next Tuesday.

  • Jorbit Vivas 2B | WAS

Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Serving as primary third baseman

Vivas will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Since Oswaldo Cabrera landed on the injured list May 13 with what's expected to be a season-ending ankle injury, Vivas has taken over the strong side of a platoon at third base with Oswald Peraza. The 24-year-old Vivas' grasp on a regular role may be tenuous, however, as he's maintained a weak .167/.265/.200 slash line over his first 34 big-league plate appearances. Though Cabrera is likely done for the season, Jazz Chisholm (oblique) is expected to return from the IL at some point in June, at which point Vivas and Peraza might become bench options, with DJ LeMahieu likely shifting to the hot corner.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Heading to bench for series finale

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Though he started the last time the Mets faced a lefty (Max Fried) in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Yankees, McNeil will retreat to the bench for the series finale in Boston while southpaw Garrett Crochet toes the rubber for Boston. Luisangel Acuna will get the nod at second base and could continue to start over the left-handed-hitting McNeil more often than not when the Mets face southpaws.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Moves back into reserve role

Koss is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Koss had served as the Giants' primary second baseman through the first two weeks of May, but his starting opportunities are likely to be scarcer moving forward after Tyler Fitzgerald and Casey Schmitt were both activated from the injured list within the past few days. Fitzgerald will get the nod at the keystone Wednesday while Koss hits the bench for the fifth time in the last six games.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Receiving afternoon off

Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Torres looks to be receiving a routine maintenance day after he had started in every game for Detroit since May 3. Colt Keith will step in at second base in place of Torres, who is slashing .295/.405/.459 with two home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs over 17 games on the month.

  • Javier Sanoja SS | MIA

Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Getting Wednesday off

Sanoja is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

After starting in each of the last seven games, Sanoja will give up his spot in the middle infield to Graham Pauley, who gets the nod at second base while Otto Lopez slides over to shortstop. Sanoja had been seeing most of his action at the keystone to begin the month, but he'll likely receive most of his starts at shortstop until Xavier Edwards (back) returns from the injured list.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Taking batting practice

Estrada (wrist) took batting practice for a third straight day Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Estrada progressed to facing velocity during Tuesday's batting practice as he continues to work his way back from a fractured right wrist. A rehab assignment for Estrada seems to be coming soon, with a return to the Rockies' active roster expected by around June 1.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Three hits in loss

Freeman went 3-for-4 with a double, a steal, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.

Freeman paced the Colorado offense with three hits and picked up his first extra-base hit of the year. He now has two steals and has not struck out in 10 at-bats since returning from injury Friday.
