Triple-A Buffalo placed Jimenez on its 7-day injured list Aug. 7 due to an unspecified injury.

After being optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 3, Jimenez appeared in just two contests for Buffalo before being shut down with the injury. Jimenez is without a clear timeline to return to action for Buffalo.

Arizona reinstated Vargas (foot) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Vargas has fully recovered from a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot that landed him on the 10-day IL in late June. He recorded a hit in each of his last three rehab games with Triple-A Reno, going 3-for-11 (.273) with two runs, one triple and one RBI over that span. Vargas will likely serve in a depth role in the infield upon his return, though he could get starts at third base in games which Blaze Alexander is out of the lineup.

The Astros announced Monday that Rodgers (concussion/nose) has continued his running, throwing and hitting programs at the team's facility in Florida, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The team hasn't confirmed that Rodgers has exited concussion protocol, so until that happens, he won't be available to head back out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Rodgers was initially placed on the injured list June 18 due to a left oblique strain, but he's made a full recovery from that injury and is instead working his way back from the concussion as well as a broken nose, which he suffered in a July 18 rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land.

The Cardinals placed Donovan on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left groin strain.

The Cardinals played a man short over the weekend with the hope that Donovan would be ready to return to the lineup early this week. However, he was ultimately not able to show enough improvement to avoid a stint on the IL. Donovan's IL placement is retroactive to Friday, so he will be eligible for activation Aug. 25. Thomas Saggese should continue to see the bulk of the playing time at second base in Donovan's stead.

Dubon is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Dubon had started in each of Houston's last three games -- twice at shortstop and once at first base -- but he'll hit the bench as the Astros kick off a three-game set in Detroit. Though his versatility has allowed him to handle a near-everyday role for Houston since about mid-May once injuries began to take a toll on the roster, Dubon could see fewer opportunities over the final six weeks of the season while the Astros move closer to full strength. Houston could get a big bat back in the lineup as soon as this weekend in Yordan Alvarez (hand), whose return to action as the Astros' primary designated hitter would likely result in Jose Altuve picking up more starts at second base at Dubon's expense.

Saggese will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Marlins.

With Brendan Donovan (groin) landing on the injured list after sitting out each of the Cardinals' previous three contests, Saggese looks to have some short-term security in St. Louis' everyday lineup. Saggese will draw a ninth straight start Monday, after he went 9-for-30 (.300 average) with two RBI, three runs and one stolen base over the previous eight contests. However, Saggese has posted a .409 BABIP and a 0:8 BB:K during that eight-game stretch, so his overall production could look less appealing once his good fortune on balls in play inevitably takes a turn for the worse.

Jackson went 3-for-5 with three runs in Sunday's 12-0 win over the Astros.

Though the Orioles got some reinforcement in the outfield Sunday with the return of Colton Cowser (concussion) from the 7-day injured list, Jackson ended up sticking in the lineup over Dylan Carlson. While making his fourth start in five games, Jackson finished second on the team in hits and is now batting .333 through his first 13 games with Baltimore. The Orioles are likely to prioritize playing time for Cowser and prospect Dylan Beavers over Jackson, the 25-year-old could continue to poach work from Carlson at the other spot in the outfield if he's able to remain hot at the plate. Both Jackson and Carlson could see their opportunities decline when or if Tyler O'Neill (wrist) returns from the IL, however.

The Mets optioned Acuna to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Acuna was up with the big club for just one day, after the Mets designated him as their 27th man for Sunday's 7-3 win over the Mariners in the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pa. He played second base in the final two innings of the game but didn't receive a plate appearance.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Edman (ankle) has been able to take part in baseball activities and remains likely to return from the 10-day injured list at some point in early September, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Edman is further away from a return from the IL than fellow utility players Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) and Enrique Hernandez (elbow), both of whom are set to begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Oklahoma City this week. A clearer timeline for Edman's return should emerge once he's cleared for a rehab assignment, which could happen soon after he reaches the point in his recovery program that he's able to run the bases without any restrictions. Edman was placed on the IL on Aug. 4 due to a right ankle sprain, the same ankle that he had previously injured earlier in the season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Kim (shoulder) will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City this week to begin a rehab assignment, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Roberts confirmed that Kim would be ready to test out his left shoulder in a game setting after the rookie was able to take live batting practice Sunday without issue. Kim, who has been on the injured list since July 29 while recovering from shoulder bursitis, could be ready to rejoin the Dodgers at some point in the final week of August if all goes well during his rehab assignment. Once he's activated from the IL, Kim could settle in as the Dodgers' primary second baseman in the short term, as Tommy Edman (ankle) isn't expected to be ready to return to action until at least early September.
