  • Reds' Jonathan India: Shows off power in win

India went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-4 victory over the Royals.

India recorded multiple extra-base knocks for just the third time this season and is slashing .280/.351/.500 with three home runs and 12 RBI over his past 13 appearances (50 at-bats). His overall numbers (.278/.361/.433) are similar to his recent stretch, and the 2021 NL Rookie of the Year is currently on pace for a career year.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Used as pinch hitter

Marte (back) entered as a pinch hitter and walked in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.

Marte, who didn't start a second consecutive game due to back tightness, was well enough to serve as a pinch hitter for Pavin Smith in the eighth inning. It's notable that Josh Rojas entered as a pinch runner after Marte earned the walk.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Battling back tightness

Marte is sitting out Wednesday due to lower-back tightness which he first felt on a slide in Monday's game versus the Phillies, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

It explains why Marte is missing a second straight start. The good news is it doesn't appear to be serious, with Marte expecting to be available off the bench Wednesday before possibily return to the lineup Thursday. Geraldo Perdomo is sliding over to second base Wednesday, with Nick Ahmed drawing the start at shortstop.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Kim is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

It's the second time in the last three contests that Kim has taken a seat. Rougned Odor will handle second base versus Aaron Civale and the Guardians.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: On bench versus lefty

Rojas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

The lefty-hitting Rojas will take a seat while the Diamondbacks face a left-handed starting pitcher for the third time in five games. Emmanuel Rivera will take over at third base in place of Rojas, who appears to be viewed as a strict strong-side platoon player.

  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Sitting vs. southpaw

Bae is not in the starting lineup versus the Cubs on Wednesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bae will take a seat against southpaw Drew Smyly for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs. Mark Mathias will hit eighth and play second base while Bae gets a breather.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Sitting in second straight

Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

The Diamondbacks haven't provided an explanation for his Marte's absence from the lineup, but he may be dealing with an injury or illness since he was also on the bench for Tuesday's 15-3 loss. Geraldo Perdomo will cover the keystone in place of Marte, who had produced an .878 OPS over his first 10 games of June.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Sitting versus southpaw

Garcia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Astros.

Garcia will take a seat as the Nationals face off with left-hander Framber Valdez on the mound. The switch-hitting Ildemaro Vargas will take over at second base and bat sixth against Houston.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: Returns to majors

The Giants recalled Villar from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He'll start at third base and bat eighth in the Giants' series finale in St. Louis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Villar will return to the major-league roster after being sent down May 30. The 26-year-old has struggled to a .135 average with four home runs, 11 RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base in 32 games with the Giants this season. With J.D. Davis (ankle) potentially set for a stint on the injured list, Villar could get another look as a regular in the San Francisco lineup.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Homers as part of three-hit day

Stott went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Stott added on to the Phillies' lead with a solo blast to right-center field to make it a 7-0 ballgame. He notched his third multi-hit effort over his last four games and is slashing .364/.429/.500 with five RBI, six runs and a 4:9 BB:K in 12 games since May 31. Stott has maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season thus far but was replaced in the leadoff spot earlier this month by Kyle Schwarber, with manager Rob Thompson looking to spark the offense. Schwarber has picked things up lately, but Stott could be given another shot to lead off if Schwarber's struggles return.
