Horwitz has had an inconsistent season as Pittsburgh's primary first baseman, but he's delivered throughout the early portions of August. He has gone 12-for-35 with two homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored across 10 starts in the month. Horwitz is now hitting .266 for the season, though he's provided very little pop with only a .124 ISO.

Schanuel got the Angels on the board with a two-run homer in the fifth inning. It was an encouraging effort for the 23-year-old, who had been just 6-for-32 with one extra-base hit through eight August contests. For the year, he's slashing .272/.358/.396 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI, 57 runs scored and five stolen bases across 492 plate appearances.

Naylor hit his third home run in five games, taking Bryan Baker yard in the seventh inning. The first baseman has now recorded a hit in 10 of 15 games with the Mariners, going 15-for-52 (.288) with four homers, three doubles, 11 stolen bases and 10 runs scored. Naylor had stolen 11 bases in 95 games before being traded.

Olson got Atlanta on the board with a 419-foot blast in the fourth inning, marking his first homer since July 20. In 19 games between long balls, the first baseman hit just .247 with four doubles and five RBI. For the year, he's slashing .262/.363/.451 with 19 home runs, 70 RBI and 66 runs scored across 526 plate appearances.

Freeman hit a go-ahead solo shot in the first inning before forcing in runs with bases-loaded walks in the second and eighth frames. The first baseman has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, going 18-for-45 (.400) with four homers and 14 RBI in that span. Overall, he has a .305/.378/.491 slash line with 14 long balls, 66 RBI, 57 runs scored and two stolen bases across 105 games this season. He's continued to provide steady contact despite a 22.6 percent strikeout rate that is his highest since 2016.
