Indians' Carlos Santana: Hits two doubles in return

Santana went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI, one run and a walk in Saturday's victory over Detroit.

Making his return from the paternity list, Santana picked up where he left off. The first baseman has now logged multi-hit performances in four of his last five games, knocking out five doubles and six RBI while raising his average to .237, its highest point since May 8.

Indians' Carlos Santana: Hitting seventh Saturday

Santana is hitting seventh and starting at first base Saturday against the Tigers.

He was activated from the paternity list earlier in the day, just in time to face Justin Verlander in the penultimate game of the first half. Santana is hitting .233 with eight home runs in 73 career at-bats against Verlander.

Indians' Carlos Santana: Activated from paternity list

Santana was activated from the paternity list in advance of Saturday's game against the Tigers.

After missing the last three games to attend to the birth of his child, Santana will presumably slot back in against righty Justin Verlander. Shawn Armstrong was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.

  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Not in Saturday's lineup

Flores (leg) is out of the lineup against the Cardinals on Saturday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

Flores has been dealing with leg cramps in the past few days, and he'll take a seat for the third straight game as he recovers. T.J. Rivera continues to start at third, while Flores will likely remain out of the lineup until after the All-Star break before settling back into his reserve role for the Mets.

  • Chris Colabello: Released by Indians

Colabello was released by the Indians on Saturday.

The 33-year-old first baseman failed to make the big-league squad out of spring training and couldn't get it going with Triple-A Columbus, posting a slash line of .225/.323/.336 over 72 games. It's been a rough road for Colabello the last couple of years, but he'll look to latch on with another team in hopes of continuing his career.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Setting pace in Carolina League

Mountcastle became the first player in the Carolina League to reach 30 doubles in High-A Frederick's win on Friday, Steve Melewski of MASN Sports reports.

Baltimore's first-round pick in 2015 is now slashing .307/.333/.541 through 80 games with the Keys. It won't be long before the shortstop makes the jump to MiLB's higher levels.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Hits solo shot Friday

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Friday's win over Cincinnati.

Goldschmidt has now gone 10 consecutive games without a multi-hit showing. He's still posted two solo homers and five runs during that span, though. Even when slumping, Goldschmidt is still tilting the fantasy scales. It's worth noting he's only attempted one stolen base through his past 25 games, so expecting Goldschmidt to suddenly run more in the second half could lead to disappointment.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Homers against D-backs

Votto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Friday's loss to Arizona.

Votto continues to be a pillar of consistency this season and is now up to 25 bombs, 64 RBI, 64 runs and a .315/.427/.627 slash line. He's taking a run at posting career-best totals in a number of categories (homers, RBI, runs, slugging percentage and OPS) and projects to remain an elite asset.

  • Tommy Joseph 1B | TEX

Phillies' Tommy Joseph: Hits 15th blast of 2017 on Friday

Joseph went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two walks Friday against the Padres.

Joseph launched his 15th homer of the campaign to put the Phillies on the board in a home loss. Although he's batting a mediocre .251, he's a solid asset for fantasy owners in need of some pop from the corner infield position.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Launches 15th bomb of season Friday

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and three RBI on Friday against the Nationals

Freeman left the yard for the 15th time this year off Max Scherzer to break up a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning of a losing effort. He's been raking in his four games since returning from the disabled list, and continues to be one of the best hitters in the majors this season, as he's slashing .349/.459/.743.
