Abreu went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Tigers.

Abreu continued his hot stretch at the dish, delivering an RBI double in the fifth frame followed by run-scoring single an inning later. He now has a five-game hitting streak, which includes three multi-hit efforts as well as five runs scored and six RBI. Overall, Abreu is hitting .271/.310/.482 across 487 plate appearances for the season.

Freeman went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs in an 11-7 victory against the Twins on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old has a home run in three straight contests, putting him one shy of the 30-homer plateau. With one more long ball, Freeman will reach 30 home runs for the first time since 2016. Freeman is on pace to set career bests in home runs, RBI and runs this season. He is batting .309 with 59 extra-base hits, 92 RBI, 90 runs and five steals in 446 at-bats this season.

Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and eight RBI in Wednesday's 14-3 rout of the Rockies.

A three-run homer in the first inning, a sacrifice fly in the third, a bases-loaded double in the fourth and an RBI fielder's choice in the sixth accounted for all of Gurriel's damage, as he tied the Astros record for runs driven in during a single game. The 35-year-old is now slashing .298/.333/.539 through 106 contests with 23 homers and 80 RBI.

Duenez was released by the Royals on Wednesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Duenez has struggled to a combined .199/.261/.307 slash line across 92 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, prompting the Royals to cut ties with the former prospect.

Rivera was suspended 80 games Wednesday for testing positive for Trenbolone, a banned performance-enhancing substance, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Rivera was a second-round pick back in 2017. He's had very little professional success thus far, hitting .213/.288/.345 overall, good for just an 87 wRC+.

Bell is not starting Wednesday against the Brewers.

As expected, Bell will stick on the bench for a second straight game as the Pirates look to give him an extended breather amidst his second-half struggles (.176/.299/.230 slash line in 22 games since the All-Star break). Jose Osuna is starting at first base and hitting cleanup in his place.

Dixon went 3-for-10 with a triple and two runs while starting both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

Dixon is off to a solid start to August, starting in five of the Tigers' first six games of the month while going 8-for-21 with four extra-base knocks. He'll stick in the lineup at first base Wednesday in the series finale and serve as Detroit's cleanup hitter.

Wade (thumb) is no longer wearing a splint, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Wade has been sidelined since early July with a dislocated thumb on his glove hand. The Twins are expected to determine the next step in his recovery in the coming days.

Guerrero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

He'll receive his first maintenance day of August after opening the month by going 11-for-26 with two home runs, three doubles, six RBI and four runs in six games. Brandon Drury will spell the rookie phenom at third base and bat sixth.

Abreu connected on his 24th home run of the season -- and just his third since the All-Star break -- in the first game of the twin bill. The 32-year-old has been in prolonged funk at the dish, but he's at no risk of losing playing time because of it. He'll be back in the lineup for the series finale Wednesday, starting at first base and batting third.
