Indians' Francona surprised Carlos Santana (wrist) started Wed.
Indians first baseman Carlos Santana made it into the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, despite getting hit on the left wrist by a pitch in the ninth inning Tuesday. While X-rays came back negative, manager Terry Francona was still surprised Santana was healthy enough to play.
"I was happily shocked," Francona said on Wednesday morning, per MLB.com. "I checked on him this morning ... and he said, 'I'm good to go.' I try never to be pessimistic -- I don't think that's my nature -- but I just didn't think that's how he was going to feel this morning."
Santana proved in the third inning his wrist is fine, as he hit a three-run homer off Colby Lewis. It was his sixth home run of the season.
