  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Reaches three times in win

Torkelson went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Friday's 7-0 win over the Twins.

Torkelson displayed a good eye at the plate, drawing multiple walks in a game for the eighth time this season. The infielder has increased his walk rate from 8.8 percent in 2024 to 10.5 percent this year. Torkelson has also boosted his power production, as he's currently sitting at 26 home runs after only going deep 10 times across 92 regular-season games last season.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Smacks homer in win

Kurtz went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and three total runs scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Angels.

The long ball was Kurtz's first since his historic four-homer game versus the Astros on July 25. He's been just fine since then, batting .278 with a .724 OPS the 15 games between homers, though he had an 11:20 BB:K in that span as well. The rookie first baseman is up to 24 homers, 65 RBI, 59 runs scored, 21 doubles, two stolen bases and a .305/.384/.631 slash line through 82 contests.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Sitting Friday

Goldschmidt (knee) is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Cardinals on Friday.

Per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, Goldschmidt is dealing with a low-grade strain in his right knee, and that will keep the veteran out of the lineup for Friday's series opener. Cody Bellinger will serve as the Yankees' first baseman and bat in the cleanup spot while Jasson Dominguez, Trent Grisham and Jose Caballero man the outfield from left to right. An IL stint isn't expected for Goldschmidt, and he relayed that he should be available off the bench, per Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Under the weather

Naylor was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Mets due to an illness, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

There's been a bug going around the Mariners' clubhouse, and Naylor is the latest to catch it, per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. Naylor will rest Friday but could be back for Saturday's matinee if he's recovered enough. Mitch Garver will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Naylor's absence.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

    Mariners' Josh Naylor: Scratched Friday

Naylor was scratched from Friday's game against the Mets for unknown reasons.

Naylor was initially slated to bat cleanup as the DH on Friday. Mitch Garver will replace Naylor at DH while Eugenio Suarez slides into the four slot. Keep an eye out for an update on Naylor's status.

  • Rays' Bob Seymour: Officially joins Tampa's roster

The Rays selected Seymour's contract from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The move is now official after Tampa Bay optioned Tristan Peters to Triple-A and released Logan Driscoll in order to make room for Seymour on the 40-man and 26-man rosters. Seymour is expected to see significant playing time at designated hitter for the Rays after smashing 30 home runs at Triple-A this season ahead of his promotion.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Launches game-winning homer

Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Cubs.

The slugging first baseman won the game for the Blue Jays when he drove a Matthew Boyd curveball over the fence in left-center field in the seventh inning. Guerrero is up to 20 homers on the season, and seven of them have come in his last 18 games -- a stretch in which he's slashing a massive .347/.420/.722 with 13 runs and 14 RBI.

  • Rays' Bob Seymour: Headed to majors

The Rays are expected to select Seymour's contract from Triple-A Durham ahead of Friday's game against the Giants, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 26-year-old Seymour will be making his MLB debut after being selected in the 13th round of the 2021 draft. Seymour has shown big power throughout his minor-league career and has slashed .263/.327/.553 with 30 home runs, 87 RBI, 70 runs scored, one stolen base and a 38:114 BB:K across 443 plate appearances at Triple-A this season. With Jonathan Aranda (wrist) still on the 10-day IL, Seymour could see regular playing time at first base or designated hitter.

  • TJ Rumfield 1B | NYY

Yankees' T.J. Rumfield: On fire at Triple-A

Rumfield is slashing .370/.450/.575 with five home runs, an 11.4 percent walk rate and a 12.8 percent strikeout rate in his last 32 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

A 25-year-old lefty-hitting first baseman, Rumfield doesn't have a clear path to playing time in the majors, but he's doing everything he can to make noise in his second season at Triple-A. Rumfield has the hit tool to profile at the bottom of the defensive spectrum, but he may not have the power, as he has a career .443 slugging percentage and has a .189 ISO this season while being an old-for-the-level first baseman.

  • Ty France 1B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ty France: Back in starting nine Thursday

France will start at first base and bat fifth in Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Before being excluded from the lineup for Wednesday's 4-1 loss, France had started in each of the Blue Jays' previous six contests and went 10-for-22 with five doubles, one walk, five runs and two RBI. Though he's gotten off to a nice start to his tenure with the Blue Jays after being acquired from the Twins on July 31, France could fade into more of a part-time role once the Blue Jays get George Springer (concussion) back from the 7-day injured list.
