Draft Scouting Report

Pro Comparison: Tyler Conklin
Summary

Lance Mason hauled in 34 passes for 590 yards and six scores at Missouri State in 2024 before transferring to Wisconsin. While he didn’t match those numbers in Madison, Mason still led an anemic Badgers passing offense in receiving. He lacks the athleticism to project as a starter, but he’s a willing blocker and natural receiver who could serve as a complementary No. 2 in the NFL.

About
  • 2025: Led Wisconsin in receiving yards (398) and receiving TD (4)
  • 2025: First Wisconsin TE to lead team in receiving yards since Jake Ferguson (2020)
Strengths
  • Thickly built, rugged tight end; can take and deliver a pummeling.
  • Sneaky straight-line speed; can outrun linebackers.
  • Physical in-line blocker; a true “Y” tight end.
Weaknesses
  • Clunky in tight spaces; has to use size to win.
  • Short arms and small wingspan, which will limit him as a blocker.
  • Doesn’t have the feet to avoid contact at the linebacker level.

  • Seahawks' Lance Mason: Secures deal with Seattle

Mason signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent Friday.

Mason is coming off a senior season with Wisconsin during which he caught 30 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns. Prior to that, he spent his first three campaigns at Missouri State. Mason is 6-foot-3 with reliable hands, but he isn't particularly quick or agile. Seattle's tight-end corps is led by AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo, and Mason may be headed for a spot on the practice squad.
