Panthers' Jeff Petry: Garners assist Thursday
Petry logged a power-play assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Flyers.
Petry helped out on Anton Lundell's opening tally at 5:29 of the second period. The 37-year-old Petry is once again getting a chance with the man advantage while occupying a third-pairing role at even strength. He didn't see power-play opportunities often over the previous two years with the Red Wings, but he was effective in that role during his prime with the Canadiens. Petry was limited to eight points in 44 appearances in 2024-25, but he's poised to play a more significant role in a stronger offense in this season, which could give him appeal in deep fantasy formats if his offense is sufficient.

Panthers' Luke Kunin: Snags assist in win
Kunin recorded an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Flyers.
Kunin wasn't expected to play much after singing a one-year contract with the Panthers in late August. However, Aleksander Barkov's (knee) absence for the full regular season has shifted the center depth for Florida, allowing Kunin to begin the year as a fourth-liner over Cole Schwindt and Noah Gregor. Kunin has racked up three shots on net, one hit, two blocks, four PIM and a plus-2 rating over his first two games of the year. He had 31 points over 63 outings in 2019-20 but has topped the 20-point mark just once in the five years since then, so he has minimal scoring upside.

Panthers' Anton Lundell: Notches power-play goal
Lundell scored a power-play goal Thursday in a 2-1 win over the Flyers.
Lundell is the obvious choice to pick up the offensive slack with the absence of Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov, but his defense-first focus could get in the way. This goal is a great sign -- he wired a sharp wrister from the right circle that beat Dan Vladar. Lundell set a career-best mark last season with 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists), and he'll attempt to build on his momentum this year.

Panthers' Brad Marchand: Gets game-winner
Marchand scored a goal Thursday in a 2-1 win over Philadelphia.
Marchand put the Panthers ahead for good at 2:19 of the third when he sent a shot through traffic from the left point that went over Dan Vladar's left shoulder. Marchand already has 10 shots in two games this season after putting up just 19 in 10 games with the Panthers last year.

Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Wins first two games of season
Bobrovsky made 19 saves in a 2-1 win over the Flyers on Thursday.
The Panthers need big things from Bobrovsky and the defensive corps while Matthew Tkachuk (groin) and Aleksander Barkov (knee) are missing due to injury. Noah Cates was the only player to beat Bobrovsky. Cates rushed the net, grabbed a rebound and lifted it over Bobrovsky's head. It's Bobrovsky's second win in two games this season, and those two wins made Florida the sixth reigning Stanley Cup champions in the past 30 years to win each of their first two games of the season.

Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov: Exits with injury
Kulikov (upper body) won't return to Thursday's game versus the Flyers, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Kulikov was injured during the second period after getting hit into the boards. If he is forced to miss any time, Uvis Balinskis would enter the lineup. Kulikov's status for Saturday versus the Senators is uncertain.

Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: First off the ice
Bobrovsky was the first netminder off the ice at morning skate, an indication that he will defend the home crease versus Philadelphia on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Bobrovsky picked up his first win of the season Opening Night, stopping 17 of 19 shots versus Chicago on Tuesday. Bobrovsky was stellar in 2024-25, leading the Panthers to their second straight Stanley Cup. He had a GAA of 2.44 in 54 regular-season games last year and should be considered among the top netminders in the NHL.

Panthers' Jonah Gadjovich: Bags helper in opener
Gadjovich recorded an assist and four hits in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.
In ideal circumstances, Gadjovich might not have a place in the lineup, but he looks set to compete for fourth-line minutes early in 2025-26 while the Panthers await the return of Matthew Tkachuk (groin). It didn't take long for Gadjovich to get on the scoresheet this season, as he set up A.J. Greer on Florida's first goal of the game at 11:06 of the opening frame. Entering this season, Gadjovich had collected just 18 points over 160 career appearances, and he's never logged more than seven points or 43 games in a campaign. While he adds some grit in the form of hits and PIM, he's not a particularly strong option in most fantasy formats.

Panthers' A.J. Greer: Rare goal in win
Greer got a goal in a 3-2 win over Chicago on Tuesday.
Greer was on the doorstep and lifted a rebound under Spencer Knight's blocker arm in the first period. The 28-year-old Greer is the epitome of the role player -- his best regular season came last year with 17 points (six goals, 11 assists), 130 PIM and a whopping 222 hits. If he can replicate that type of output, Greer may provide you with occasional value in deep leagues because of those muscle categories.

Panthers' Carter Verhaeghe: Gets first goal of season
Verhaeghe scored a goal Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Chicago.
Verhaeghe gave Florida a 2-1 lead at 14:08 of the first period while on the power play. He wired the puck over Spencer Knight's right shoulder, who was scrambling to get in position after wandering out to play the puck. Verhaeghe delivered just 53 regular-season points last year after two straight 70-plus campaigns. However, he's also one of just six active NHLers to win three Stanley Cups. With the team missing key forwards because of injuries, Verhaeghe will be one of the players looked to for extra offense. That's a great opportunity for managers who got him a few rounds lower than expected based on last year's output.

Panthers' Jesper Boqvist: Nets winner on opening night
Boqvist scored a goal Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Chicago.
Boqvist had a great night -- his goal stood as the winner -- but that still doesn't make him fantasy relevant. He is coming off a career-tying 23-point season, and the 26-year-old set career highs in goals (12) and shots (87). Boqvist's effectiveness in the bottom six is his calling card, so his fantasy value is limited.

Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Notches win one in season opener
Bobrovsky made 17 saves in a 3-2 win over the Blackhawks on Tuesday.
The Panthers raised their championship banner Tuesday and then came out on fire, pinning the Blackhawks in their own zone most of the first frame. Bobrovsky faced just three shots in that period, allowing one goal. At 37 and with two consecutive Stanley Cups, Bob has a lot of mileage on his Hall of Fame body. Daniil Tarasov may get 35 games this season, so Bobrovsky gets rest for an attempted 'three-peat.' You'll need to have a strong complement for your G2 spot to offset Bob's potential rest schedule.

Panthers' Mackie Samoskevich: Two assists in season opener
Samoskevich delivered two assists in a 3-2 win over Chicago on Tuesday.
Samoskevich's role with the Panthers was cloudy all summer due to the team's veteran signings. However, injuries have opened the door for him to continue to develop his exciting skills. Samoskevich could be a great breakout story this season. Bare minimum, you need to tap into his opportunity early this campaign.

Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk: Moves to IR-NR
Tkachuk (groin) was placed on non-roster injured reserve Tuesday.
Tkachuk isn't expected to return to the lineup until sometime in December, so this move is simply procedural. While the star winger works his way back to full strength, Brad Marchand, who penned a six-year, $31.5 million contract in the offseason, will work in a top-six role. Considering Tkachuk played through a torn hip adductor and sports hernia during the 2025 postseason, it might take him some time to get back up to full speed once he's back in the lineup.

Panthers' Tomas Nosek: Shifts to non-roster injured list
Nosek (knee) was moved to non-roster, injured reserve Tuesday.
Nosek is not expected back in the lineup until mid-December, so his designation for non-roster, injured reserve shouldn't come as a surprise. With the depth forward on the shelf, the Cats signed Noah Gregor to a one-year, two-way deal to bolster the lineup. Once cleared to play, Nosek should be capable of claiming a bottom-six spot in the Panthers' lineup.

Panthers' Aleksander Barkov: Surfaces on IR
Barkov (knee) was shifted to injured reserve Tuesday.
This move was not unexpected, as Barkov recently underwent knee surgery to repair injuries to his right ACL and MCL. Florida's captain has a 7-9 month recovery timeline, and it's a possibility he'll be held out of a potential playoff run to allow him to fully heal for the 2026-27 campaign. Sam Bennett is slated to center the top line in Barkov's stead.
