  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Falls in overtime

Schmid gave up four goals on 33 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Ducks. Saturday's game had firewagon potential after the teams combined for five goals in the first period. Schmid couldn't protect Vegas' 3-2 lead that came out of that, and a turnover in overtime ended up sending him to a defeat, his first in four games. He hasn't lost in regulation since Oct. 25 versus the Panthers. Schmid has been reliable with a 9-1-3 record, a 2.45 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 13 appearances. The 25-year-old netminder started three games in a row for the first time this year, further cementing his status as the No. 1 goalie until Adin Hill (lower body) returns or Carter Hart (suspension) is elevated to the active roster. The Golden Knights' next game is in Utah on Monday.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Tending twine Saturday

Schmid will defend the road net against Anaheim on Saturday, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports. Schmid has won his last three outings while allowing only four goals on 68 shots. He has a 9-1-2 record with one shutout, a 2.33 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 12 appearances this season. Anaheim ranks third in the league with 3.57 goals per game this campaign.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Strong outing Thursday

Schmid made 25 saves on 26 shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Mammoth. Schmid's elite run continued Thursday, as he allowed just one goal near the midway point in the second period. He's won each of his last three starts and has a 1.33 GAA and a .941 save percentage in that span. Overall, the 25-year-old goaltender has a 9-1-2 record with a 2.33 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 12 appearances this season. Schmid has been one of the top goaltending stories of the season, stepping up for the team's opening-night starter Adin Hill, who has been out of the lineup since Oct. 20 with a lower-body injury. Even when Hill returns, Schmid might have done enough to earn a time share between the pipes for Vegas and should be a solid goaltending option in most fantasy formats for the foreseeable future. His next chance to guard the crease is Saturday in Anaheim.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Getting nod in Utah

Schmid will protect the road goal versus the Mammoth on Thursday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. This will be Schmid's fourth start in the last five games, indicating he has pulled firmly ahead of Carl Lindbom for the Golden Knights' starting job while Adin Hill (lower body) is out. Schmid has gone 4-0-2 with a 2.29 GAA and a .902 save percentage over his last six games.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Expected to face St. Louis

Schmid is slated to start on the road against St. Louis on Saturday, per Lou Korac of The Hockey News. Schmid will look to get back into the win column after going 0-0-2 while allowing eight goals on 53 shots (.849 save percentage) across his last two starts. He's 6-1-2 with a 2.67 GAA and an .894 save percentage in nine outings this season. The Blues are 6-8-4 and rank 22nd in goals per game with 2.89.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Loses in overtime

Schmid allowed four goals on 24 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders. Schmid has lost two straight games past regulation time, allowing eight goals on 53 shots in that span. The 25-year-old is now at a 6-1-2 record with a 2.67 GAA and an .894 save percentage through nine appearances. Schmid will need to be sharper than he has been lately to get back in the win column. He looks set to continue sharing the crease with Carl Lindbom until Adin Hill (lower body) gets healthy. If the Golden Knights continue rotating goalies, Lindbom would play Saturday in St. Louis while Schmid would get the second half of a back-to-back Sunday in Minnesota.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to start Thursday

Schmid is expected to start at home against the Islanders on Thursday, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Schmid stopped 25 of 29 shots en route to a 4-3 overtime loss to Anaheim in his last start Saturday. He's 6-1-1 with a 2.51 GAA and a .901 save percentage in eight outings this year. The Islanders are 8-6-2 and rank 10th in goals per game with 3.31.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Can't slow down Ducks

Schmid stopped 25 of 29 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Ducks. Schmid gave up three goals over the first two periods before settling in enough to allow the Golden Knights to force overtime. However, Jacob Trouba scored 4:28 into the extra session to hand Schmid the loss. This was just the second time in eight outings Schmid has been tagged for four-plus goals. He's gone 6-1-1 with a 2.51 GAA and a .901 save percentage so far. The 25-year-old has been alternating starts with Carl Lindbom recently, but it's unclear if that pattern will continue for the Golden Knights' four-game week ahead, which begins Monday at home versus the Panthers.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to face Anaheim

Schmid is expected to start at home against Anaheim on Saturday, per SinBin Vegas. Schmid has a 6-1-0 record, 2.31 GAA and .908 save percentage in seven appearances in 2025-26. He earned a 24-save shutout over Detroit in his last start Tuesday. Although expectations weren't high for Anaheim going into the campaign, the Ducks are 9-3-1 and rank first in goals per game with 4.15, so this might be a challenging assignment for Schmid.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Posts second career shutout

Schmid recorded a 24-save shutout in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Red Wings. Schmid had no margin for error throughout the game, and he made Ivan Barbashev's second-period tally stand as the winner. This was Schmid's second career NHL shutout and his first as a Golden Knight. He's up to 6-1-0 with a 2.31 GAA and a .908 save percentage through seven appearances this season. The 25-year-old continues to operate as the starter while Adin Hill (lower body) works his way back. The Golden Knights continue their homestand Thursday versus the Lightning.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: First off Tuesday

Schmid was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, SinBin Vegas reports, indicating he will start Tuesday's home matchup versus Detroit. Schmid is coming off a 21-save effort in last Tuesday's 6-3 win over Carolina. He has a 5-1-0 record this season while allowing 15 goals on 139 shots. Detroit is tied for 14th in the league with 3.23 goals per game this campaign.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Hangs on for fifth win

Schmid made 21 saves in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Hurricanes. Logan Stankoven ripped a shot from the slot past Schmid early in the third period to give Carolina a 3-2 lead, but the 25-year-old netminder shut the door the rest of the way while the Vegas offense took control. Schmid has benefitted from some impressive support in the early going, with the Golden Knights scoring at least four goals in all five of his wins -- helping to explain why his 5-1-0 record is outpacing his 2.73 GAA and .892 save percentage. Adin Hill (lower body) still lacks a timeline for his return, and Carter Hart (suspension) won't be eligible for the NHL roster until December, so Schmid will continue to hold down the fort in the Vegas crease.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Facing Hurricanes

Schmid will protect the road goal versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Schmid will try to bounce back from his first loss of the season, when he gave up three goals on 26 shots to the Panthers on Saturday. He's won his other four outings while posting a 2.67 GAA and an .896 save percentage overall, including a 22-save relief performance over the Hurricanes on Oct. 20.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Earns win in relief

Schmid stopped 22 of 23 shots in Monday's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes. Schmid had to step up in relief for an injured Adin Hill (lower body) for the second time this season. The former was outstanding against the undefeated Hurricanes and stopped all but one of the shots he faced en route to earning his fourth win of the campaign in an equal number of appearances. Schmid is expected to operate as the Golden Knights' No. 1 netminder if Hill is forced to miss time, and right now, he'd be slated to start against the Panthers on Saturday if Hill weren't able to return.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Lackluster in start Thursday

Schmid allowed five goals on 24 shots in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Bruins. While he escaped with the win, Schmid's shaky goaltending in the third period nearly allowed the Bruins back in. This was Schmid's third win of the season, but he's now allowed eight goals on 66 shots for an .879 save percentage. Adin Hill was able to back up Thursday after being cleared of a lower-body injury sustained Tuesday versus the Flames. That likely means Schmid will return to a backup role -- or a timeshare at best -- moving forward. The Golden Knights host the Flames on Saturday for their next game.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to start Thursday

Schmid is expected to start at home against Boston on Thursday, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Schmid has a 2-0-0 record, 1.80 GAA and .929 save percentage in two appearances this year. Head coach Bruce Cassidy said this was a scheduled start for Schmid, so his assignment presumably doesn't have anything to do with Adin Hill's lower-body injury. It's still possible that Hill will serve as the backup goaltender Thursday. If Hill can't, then Vegas will need to recall a netminder from AHL Henderson.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Earns win in relief

Schmid stopped all 19 shots he faced and earned the win in relief in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Flames. Schmid entered the game after Adin Hill suffered a lower-body injury, and he earned his second win of the season. Schmid should remain between the pipes as the Golden Knights' starting netminder for as long as Hill remains sidelined. Through two outings, Schmid has gone 2-0-0 with a 1.80 GAA after stopping 39 of 42 shots for a .929 save percentage.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: In goal Wednesday

Schmid will protect the home goal versus the Avalanche in Wednesday's preseason game, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports. Schmid will make his second start and third appearance of the preseason, and it could be his final opportunity to stake his claim to the Golden Knights' backup job. However, he appears to have a fair amount of cushion over Carl Lindbom for that role.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Tending twine Friday

Schmid will guard the road goal versus the Sharks in Friday's preseason game, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. This will be Schmid's second preseason appearance after he stopped 13 of 14 shots in his previous outing. The 25-year-old has the inside track to begin the year as the Golden Knights' backup goalie, though he could lose that opportunity if the team makes a move to find a more experienced netminder to pair with Adin Hill.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: First off Tuesday

Schmid was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, according to Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now, indicating he will defend the road net versus the Avalanche on Tuesday. Schmid is coming off a 21-save performance in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Calgary. He has stopped 35 of 37 shots in three NHL appearances this season. Colorado ranks fifth in the league with 3.36 goals per game in 2024-25.
