Massimo Rizzo: Links up with Swedish club
Rizzo agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Kalmar HC of Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan on Wednesday.
Rizzo hasn't appeared in an NHL game since being selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft. A product of the University of Denver, the 25-year-old center will now give international hockey a try. If he can find his offensive upside, Rizzo may still have an outside chance of getting another NHL opportunity.

Massimo Rizzo: Going to free agency
The Rangers chose not to extend a qualifying offer to Rizzo on Monday, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Rizzo played in both the AHL and ECHL in 2025-26. The seventh-round pick by Carolina in 2020 has never appeared in an NHL game, so if he signs with a new organization when free agency opens, Rizzo will almost certainly have to settle for a two-way deal.

Rangers' Massimo Rizzo: Going to Broadway in trade
The Rangers acquired Rizzo and the No. 148 pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft from Nashville on Saturday in exchange for Adam Edstrom.
Rizzo has been traded three times in a span of three-and-a-half months. He went from Philadelphia to Boston on March 6 and was then moved to Nashville six days later. Rizzo appeared in 14 AHL games between Providence and Milwaukee last regular season, supplying two goals and three assists. He also recorded 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 29 games for ECHL Reading in the 2025-26 regular season. He's a depth move for the Rangers' system.
