Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Ready for return
Lundkvist was activated off of long-term injured reserve by the Stars on Sunday.
Reinforcements are coming for the Stars, who also activated Matt Duchene (upper body) from LTIR. Lundkvist has been out of the lineup with a lower-body injury since early October, playing in only four games. In those contests, he recorded three points (one goal, two assists). The 25-year-old will provide a needed boost to the Dallas defense corps, which is still without Thomas Harley (lower body) and Lian Bichsel (lower body). Lundkvist is expected to play Sunday against the Penguins.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Considered day-to-day
Lundkvist (lower body) was labeled day-to-day by head coach Glen Gulutzan and could return as early as Tuesday's matchup with Winnipeg, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.
Based on his timeline, Lundkvist won't be an option for the Stars' next two outings, but he certainly seems to be trending in the right direction. With Thomas Harley (lower body) on a similar timeline, both Kyle Capobianco and Vladislav Kolyachonok could be headed back to the minors when Lundkvist is cleared to come off long-term injured reserve.

In corresponding moves, the Stars also recalled Kyle Capobianco from AHL Texas and activated Oskar Back (undisclosed) from injured reserve. Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Deemed week-to-week
Lundkvist (lower body) will be placed on injured reserve and is week-to-week, according to Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News on Monday.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Expected to miss some time
Lundkvist (lower body) is expected to be "out for a little bit," head coach Glen Gulutzan told Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars on Saturday.
Lundkvist missed Saturday's 3-1 loss to St. Louis, and it sounds like that won't be the extent of his time on the shelf. The 25-year-old has a goal and three points in four outings this year. Ilya Lyubushkin will probably play regularly while Lundkvist is unavailable.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Game-time call
Lundkvist (lower body) will be a game-time decision against the Blues on Saturday, per Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars.
Lundkvist didn't participate in Friday's practice after logging a season-low 11:18 of ice time in Thursday's 5-3 loss to Vancouver. He has produced one goal, two assists, two shots on net, five blocked shots and three hits over four games this season.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Suffers lower-body injury
Lundkvist suffered a lower-body injury Thursday versus Vancouver, Brien Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
Lundkvist will be looked at by the medical staff Friday after he played only 11:18 of ice time, and the defenseman may be questionable for Saturday's contest in St. Louis. The 25-year-old got off to a great start with a goal and two assists in his first two games of 2025-26, but he was held off the scoresheet in his last two appearances. Ilya Lyubushkin should enter the lineup if Lundkvist is unable to go.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Productive in season opener
Lundkvist had a goal, an assist, two shots and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Jets.
Lundkvist made the most of his playing time Thursday and cracked the scoresheet twice, finding the twine in the latter stages of the first period and then setting up Wyatt Johnston's goal in the third frame. Lundkvist isn't expected to produce at this rate on a steady basis, though. He didn't score a single goal and had only five points in 39 regular-season showings in 2024-25, and his marker Thursday was just the 10th of his five-year NHL career.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Signs one-year deal
Lundkvist signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Stars on Friday.
That matches the one-year, $1.25 million deal that Lundkvist played under during the 2024-25 campaign. He had five assists, 20 PIM, 23 hits and 34 blocks across 39 regular-season outings with Dallas over the life of that contract. He missed the Stars' final 35 regular-season games and all of their 18 playoff outings because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. However, he's received medical clearance, so Lundkvist should be fine going into training camp. He's expected to make Dallas' roster, though it remains to be seen how often he'll slot into the third pairing -- Lundkvist might spend some time as a healthy scratch.

Head coach Pete DeBoer said Thursday that Lundkvist is dealing with an upper-body injury, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lundkvist was placed on injured reserve Wednesday for an undisclosed reason, but it's now been revealed that he's dealing with an upper-body ailment. A timetable for his return hasn't yet been disclosed, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return to game action before the 4 Nations Face-Off in mid-February.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Placed on injured reserve
Lundkvist (undisclosed) was put on injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site.
Lundkvist hasn't been in the lineup since Jan. 21, but it's not clear when he got hurt, so it's possible he was a healthy scratch for a time before sustaining his current injury. He has four assists, 20 PIM, 23 hits and 34 blocks in 39 outings in 2024-25. When the 24-year-old is in the lineup, it's typically as part of the Stars' third pairing.

Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Records assist in overtime win
Lundkvist notched an assist and two blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.
Lundkvist ended a five-game slump when he helped out on Oskar Back's second-period tally. The 24-year-old Lundkvist continues to play a bottom-four role on the Stars' blue line, and he shouldn't be counted on for steady offense. This season, he's racked up four assists, 43 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating over 30 appearances, well behind the pace that saw him log a career-high 19 points in 59 outings in the 2023-24 regular season.
