Top Arvid Soderblom News

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Beaten nine times Friday

Soderblom stopped 21 of 30 shots in Friday's 9-3 loss to Buffalo.

Soderblom has started three of the Blackhawks' last six games, but this will probably go down as one of the worst performances of his career. He was on a run of posting a save percentage of at least .900 in three of his previous four outings, a stretch where he'd gone 2-2-0 with a 2.04 GAA and a .929 save percentage, so this subpar showing came out of nowhere. Soderblom will aim to recover in his next start, and if the Blackhawks continue to rotate netminders, that game might come against the Wild on Wednesday at home.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Protecting road goal Friday

Soderblom will guard the road goal versus the Sabres on Friday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Soderblom will handle the second half of the Blackhawks' back-to-back set after Spencer Knight was in goal for a 3-2 loss to the Kraken on Thursday. With just three goals allowed on 67 shots on net over his last two games, both wins, Soderblom has some momentum coming into this matchup. The Sabres have scored 20 goals over the last six games but have posted a 2-4-0 record in that span.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Concedes twice in win

Soderblom stopped 19 of 21 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Flames.

Soderblom took advantage of a favorable matchup against a Flames team that has struggled to score this season, and his teammates provided plenty of offensive support. Soderblom has gone 3-2-1 this season but seems to be on the rise after posting a save percentage of .905 or higher in three of his last four outings.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Getting start versus Flames

Soderblom will protect the home goal versus the Flames on Tuesday, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.

The Blackhawks have kept Soderblom from sitting too long this season, as he's yet to go more than three games between appearances. He's 2-2-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .913 save percentage over five games. The Flames have scored just 12 goals over their last six contests, going 2-3-1 in that span, and they continue to have the worst offense in the league.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Sets career high in saves

Soderblom stopped 45 of 46 shots on goal in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.

Outside of a goal scored by Dylan Larkin four minutes into the contest, Soderblom thrived against a high shot volume. Sunday's performance became one to remember for the 26-year-old goaltender as he set a new career high in saves. Overall, Soderblom has a 2-2-1 record with a 2.63 GAA and a .913 save percentage across five appearances this year. It will take a few more strong outings for Soderblom to raise himself into fantasy relevance, but Sunday's performance could lead to more opportunities to guard the crease moving forward. That said, Spencer Knight has also played well, which may be enough to keep Soderblom in the backup role.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Tending twine Sunday

Soderblom will defend the road net against Detroit on Sunday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Soderblom is coming off a 21-save effort in Monday's 3-1 loss to Seattle. He has a 1-2-1 record this season while allowing 12 goals on 104 shots. Detroit sits 21st in the league with 2.87 goals per game this campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Beaten three times Monday

Soderblom stopped 21 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Kraken.

Soderblom was beaten twice in the second period and once more in the final frame. The 26-year-old has lost in three of his four appearances this season, going 1-2-1 with a 3.04 GAA and an .885 save percentage. He's strictly a backup behind Spencer Knight, so Soderblom's upside is limited across all formats, as he's only valuable in specific matchups -- and mainly in deep formats.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Tending twine Monday

Soderblom will defend the road net against Seattle on Monday, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.

Soderblom stopped 19 of 21 shots, with the third goal being an empty-netter, in a 3-1 loss to the Kings on Oct. 26 during his last outing. He has a 1-1-1 record this season while allowing nine goals on 80 shots. Seattle sits 24th in the league with 2.73 goals per game this campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Decent effort in loss

Soderblom allowed two goals on 21 shots in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Kings. The third goal was an empty-netter.

Soderblom didn't play poorly, but the Kings' pair of goals in a span of 1:24 during the second period ended up being the difference. This outing dropped Soderblom to a 1-1-1 record with nine goals allowed on 80 shots through three appearances. With how well Spencer Knight has played early in 2025-26, it's unlikely Soderblom will see much more than a backup role most of the time. The Blackhawks have yet to play back-to-back days, but Soderblom is virtually guaranteed a start in each of those sets as well as picking up the occasional assignment to give Knight rest.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Slated to start

Soderblom is expected to guard the home goal against the Kings on Sunday, according to CHGO Blackhawks.

Soderblom hasn't played since Oct. 15, when he stopped 23 shots in an 8-3 win over St. Louis. He has a 1-0-1 record this season while stopping 52 of 59 shots. The Kings have posted 2.78 goals per game through nine outings this season.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Gets plenty of help in win

Soderblom stopped 23 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Blues.

The Blackhawks' scoring outburst gave Soderblom plenty of support even though he wasn't at his best. The 26-year-old is 1-0-1 to start the season, but he has allowed seven goals on 59 shots. Soderblom can be expected to continue handling the backup role, with Spencer Knight likely to get the nod for Friday's home game versus the Canucks.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Set to start Wednesday

Soderblom will guard the road goal versus the Blues on Wednesday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Soderblom will get his second start in the Blackhawks' first five games. He lost his season debut, allowing four goals on 33 shots in an overtime defeat at the hands of the Bruins. Soderblom will need to put together good performances when he starts, or Spencer Knight will end up with a hefty workload in 2025-26.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Falls in OT to Bruins

Soderblom stopped 29 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to Boston.

Getting the nod for Chicago's second game of the new campaign, Soderblom gave up a goal in each period, getting beaten for the winner by Fraser Minten in the extra frame. The 26-year-old netminder is expected to back up Spencer Knight this season, but it's not yet clear how much of a workload that will entail. Soderblom set career bests with 10 wins, a 3.18 GAA and an .898 save percentage over 36 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Between pipes in Boston

Soderblom will protect the road goal Thursday versus the Bruins, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Soderblom will get his first start of the season in the Blackhawks' second game. The 26-year-old goalie is looking to build upon his 3.18 GAA and .898 save percentage, from 36 games last year, all of which were career-best marks. Soderblom will likely fill the backup role behind Spencer Knight, but it's possible this crease becomes a timeshare if neither goalie finds consistency.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Receiving starting nod

Soderblom will protect the home goal in Saturday's preseason game versus the Blues, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.

Soderblom will make his second start of the preseason. He stopped 40 of 43 shots in his start versus the Red Wings on Sept. 23. Soderblom is projected to fill the backup role behind Spencer Knight for the Blackhawks in 2025-26.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Tending twine in Detroit

Soderblom will get the start in preseason action against the Red Wings on Tuesday, and he's expected to play the entire game, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio.

After signing a two-year, $5.5 million contract with Chicago in late July, Soderblom will start the season as the backup to Spencer Knight. The 26-year-old Soderblom registered a 10-18-7 record, .898 save percentage and 3.18 GAA over 36 appearances last season, but he shouldn't be in danger of losing playing time in 2025-26 so long as Laurent Brossoit (hip) remains on the shelf.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Avoids arbitration with new deal

Soderblom has signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract with the Blackhawks, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Soderblom will be back with the Blackhawks on a new, two-year agreement following a season in which he held a 10-18-7 record, 3.18 GAA and an .898 save percentage. The 25-year-old has yet to play more than 40 games in a season during his young career, and the presence of Spencer Knight as Chicago's probable starting netminder means that Soderblom will be the backup and likely won't reach 40 games again this season.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Picks up win No. 10 in shootout

Soderblom stopped 18 shots in regulation and overtime and all three shootout attempts he faced in Monday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

The 25-year-old netminder reached 10 wins for the first time in his career with the performance. Assuming he doesn't see action in Chicago's regular-season finale Tuesday in Ottawa, Soderblom wraps up his campaign with a 3.18 GAA, .898 save percentage and 10-18-7 record over 36 outings. A restricted free agent in the offseason, it's not clear if he'll factor into Chicago's 2025-26 plans with the team having Spencer Knight and Laurent Brossoit (knee) set to make a combined $7.8 million.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Slated to start

Soderblom is expected to defend the road net against Montreal on Monday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Soderblom is coming off a 31-save performance in Thursday's 5-2 win over Boston, and he stopped 38 shots in a 4-2 victory over Montreal on Jan. 3. He has a 9-18-7 record with a 3.19 GAA and an .899 save percentage through 35 appearances this season. Montreal sits 17th in the league with 2.95 goals per game in 2024-25.
