Ehlers had a hand in the Hurricanes' first two goals of the game, scored by Sebastian Aho (on the power play) and Jordan Staal. The 30-year-old Ehlers has picked up two goals and two assists over four games in this series, his most productive round of the playoffs so far. Ehlers scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist Monday during the Hurricanes' 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers in Game 2 of their second-round series.
Philly jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Ehlers got Carolina on the board midway through the opening frame by blasting a one-timer past Dan Vladar from the faceoff dot. The veteran winger then helped set up Seth Jarvis for the tying tally midway through the third period. It was Ehlers' first goal, and first multi-point performance, of the postseason, a very encouraging sign after he sat out the final game of the first round due to a lower-body injury.

Hurricanes' Nikolaj Ehlers: Expected to play in Game 1
Ehlers (lower body) is expected to be in the lineup for Game 1 against Philadelphia on Saturday, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.
Ehlers sat out last Saturday's series-clinching 4-2 win over Ottawa, but he will be available for the start of the second round of the postseason. He has supplied one assist, seven shots on goal, four blocked shots and four hits over three appearances during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Ehlers will probably skate on the third line and work on the top power-play unit in Saturday's Game 1 matchup. During the 2025-26 regular season, he earned two goals and three points in four outings against the Flyers.

During Friday's practice, Ehlers filled his regular third-line role and logged reps with the No. 1 power-play unit. While several of the Hurricanes' big-name players were held out of some games recently, Ehlers remained a fixture in the lineup. He ended up playing in all 82 regular-season contests for the second time in three years and the fourth time in his 11-year career. He was the only Hurricane to play in every game this campaign. The 30-year-old winger also finished with a career-high 71 points (26 goals, 45 assists) while adding 207 shots on net and a plus-8 rating. Ehlers should be a regular in the middle six during the postseason, but he'll also be a major part of the power play.
