  • Ducks' Laurent Brossoit: Makes 21 saves during preseason start

Brossoit turned aside 21 of 23 shots during Sunday's 6-2 preseason win over the Sharks. Brossoit drew the start during Sunday's preseason victory and played the entire matchup. He conceded a goal in each of the first two periods but got plenty of offensive support during the victory. Brossoit made just one regular-season appearance with San Jose last year and is competing with Ville Husso for the backup goaltending job behind Lukas Dostal during training camp ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Ducks' Laurent Brossoit: Poised to start Sunday

Brossoit is expected to protect the home net in Sunday's preseason matchup against San Jose, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports. Brossoit is expected to play the full game. He posted a 15-11-1 record with a 3.06 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 28 AHL regular-season appearances between Rockford and San Jose in 2025-26. After signing a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Ducks in the summer, Brossoit is competing for the backup role behind Lukas Dostal during training camp.

  • Ducks' Laurent Brossoit: Signs one-year deal

Brossoit signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Ducks on Wednesday. Brossoit had a 15-11-1 record, 3.06 GAA and .901 save percentage in 28 regular-season outings between AHL San Jose and Rockford in 2025-26. The 33-year-old is a veteran of 141 career regular-season NHL games, so he's a viable option for Anaheim to play if Lukas Dostal or Ville Husso suffers an injury. However, Brossoit will probably begin 2026-27 in the minors.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Returned to AHL

Brossoit was assigned to AHL San Jose on Monday. Brossoit will return to the minors because Yaroslav Askarov (upper body) will start Monday's home matchup against St. Louis. The 33-year-old Brossoit has gone 11-3-1 with a 2.52 GAA and a .915 save percentage across 15 appearances with AHL San Jose this season.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Recalled Friday

Brossoit was elevated from AHL San Jose on Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Brossoit has logged just one game at the NHL level this year, giving up six goals on 23 shots in a defeat to Ottawa on March 15. With a back-to-back against the Ducks and Maple Leafs on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, Brossoit should get another opportunity to start again sooner rather than later -- assuming Yaroslav Askarov (upper body) remains on the shelf.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Returned to AHL

Brossoit was assigned to AHL San Jose on Monday. Yaroslav Askarov (lower body) participated in Monday's practice and appears to be ready to return to the lineup in Tuesday's road matchup against Nashville. During his lone NHL appearance during his stint with the big club, Brossoit allowed six goals on 23 shots in a 7-4 loss to Ottawa on March 12.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Sunk by Sens in season debut

Brossoit turned aside 17 of 23 shots in Sunday's 7-4 loss to Ottawa, with the Senators' final goal getting scored into an empty net. With Yaroslav Askarov (lower body) sidelined, Brossoit was called up from the AHL and made his first NHL start since April 18, 2024, when he was still a member of the Jets. The 32-year-old netminder's return to the top level of hockey didn't go particularly well, however, and the tone for the game was set when Brossoit watched his own defenseman, Mario Ferraro, tap the puck past him for Ottawa's first goal, credited to Drake Batherson. Askarov's injury doesn't appear to be serious, and with the Sharks having no more back-to-backs sets on their schedule until early April, this could wind up being Brossoit's only NHL appearance before the end of the season.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Returns to NHL net

Brossoit will get the start in goal for Sunday's contest against the Senators, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. It will be the first NHL start for Brossoit since April of 2024. Since then, the 32-year-old has battled injuries and spent some time in the minors since a midseason trade from Chicago. He's finally back in an NHL crease for the Sharks, who are on the second of a back-to-back and still without Yaroslav Askarov (lower body). Brossoit has an 11-2-1 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .915 save percentage with AHL San Jose.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Summoned from AHL

Brossoit was recalled from AHL San Jose on Friday. The move was made necessary when Yaroslav Askarov tweaked something Thursday, forcing the Sharks to suit up emergency backup goaltender Kyle Chauvette, who was signed to an amateur tryout prior to Thursday's tilt in Boston. Brossoit is 11-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .915 save percentage for AHL San Jose this season. He is expected to back up Alex Nedeljkovic on Saturday in Montreal.

  • Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Dealt Thursday

Brossoit, Nolan Allan and a 2028 seven-round pick were acquired by San Jose from Chicago on Thursday in exchange for Ryan Ellis, Jake Furlong and a 2028 fourth-round selection, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. Brossoit has a 3.38 GAA and a .901 save percentage in six appearances with AHL Rockford in 2025-26. He hasn't played in the NHL this campaign. Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic have struggled in 2025-26 -- the Sharks rank 30th in goals per game with 3.49 -- so there might be an opportunity for Brossoit to get a shot in the NHL with his new organization. For now, though, Brossoit is projected to remain in the minors.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Set to land on waivers

Brossoit will be placed on waivers Monday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Brossoit rejoined the Blackhawks on Monday following a conditioning stint with AHL Rockford, but head coach Jeff Blashill said that the netminder will be sent back to the minors if he clears waivers. Brossoit hasn't appeared in an NHL game since the 2023-24 campaign, but if he remains in the organization, he'll presumably be the first option to be called up if Chicago needs an additional goaltender.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Returns from conditioning stint

Brossoit (hip) rejoined the Blackhawks on Monday following his conditioning stint with AHL Rockford, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports. Brossoit made three appearances for the IceHogs, in which he went 2-1-0 with a .900 save percentage -- though it will be the goalie goal that stands out the most from his time in the minors. At this point, when Brossoit might get into the crease for the Blackhawks remains to be seen, but he should eventually break into the rotation with Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom now that his hip problem is behind him.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Taken off non-roster injured reserve

Brossoit (hip) was activated off non-roster injured reserve and sent down to AHL Rockford on a conditioning assignment Tuesday. Brossoit likely will get into a game against AHL Colorado on Friday or Saturday and could spend up to two weeks with the minor-league club. This is a step in the right direction for the backstop, who hasn't appeared in a game since a playoff appearance April 28, 2024, versus the Avalanche.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Still unavailable

Brossoit (knee) will be unavailable for the start of training camp, and it's likely he will miss additional time, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times on Tuesday. Brossoit missed the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign due to a knee issue. He has one more season left on his two-year, $6.6 million contract. If Brossoit remains on the shelf for the beginning of the 2025-26 season, Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom will handle the goaltending duties for the Blackhawks.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Not expected to play this season

Brossoit (knee) is not expected to play this season, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Brossoit has been battling a knee injury that required surgery in November, which followed a previous surgery to address a torn meniscus in August. The 31-year-old looks to have lost the whole season at this point, though the Blackhawks are not hurting for goaltenders after acquiring Spencer Knight in a trade that sent Seth Jones to the Panthers. Brossoit is under contract for 2025-26, but he may end up in the minors since both Petr Mrazek and Knight are also under contract.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Out six more weeks

Per Scott Powers of The Athletic on Friday, Brossoit had another procedure on his knee and will be out of action for six weeks, according to coach Luke Richardson. Brossoit underwent his original surgery Aug. 27 and was in need of another operation. Brossoit has yet to appear in a Chicago uniform this season after signing as an unrestricted free agent July 1. He will battle Petr Mrazek once he is ready to take on a big role. Brossoit was 15-5-2 with a 2.00 GAA and a .927 save percentage in 23 regular-season appearances with the Jets last season.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: No timetable for return

Per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, Brossoit (knee) will remain out indefinitely, coach Luke Richardson said Saturday. Brossoit underwent surgery Aug. 27, and he was expected to need seven weeks to recover. Richardson said it has taken way longer than initially projected, and there is currently no timetable for his return. Brossoit was expected to share the net with Petr Mrazek, and that could still happen upon his return.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Will miss at least three more games

Brossoit (knee) won't join the Blackhawks before the end of their current road trip, which still includes games in San Jose on Thursday, Los Angeles on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Wednesday. Brossoit hasn't yet played for Chicago in 2024-25. When he is healthy enough to return, Arvid Soderblom might be reassigned to the minors, but it's also possible that the Blackhawks will carry three goaltenders. Either way, Petr Mrazek would likely continue to get the majority of Chicago's starts.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Won't travel with team

Head coach Luke Richardson said Thursday that Brossoit (knee) won't travel with the Blackhawks for the start of their upcoming road trip, which begins Saturday in Dallas, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. While Brossoit won't be with the team for the start of the road trip, Richardson said that the goalie could join the Blackhawks in San Jose ahead of their Oct. 31 matchup against the Sharks since Chicago will have more practice time at that point. While the 31-year-old appears to be trending toward a return, he still seems to be at least a week or two away from returning to game action.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Out for roughly four weeks

Brossoit (knee) will be out of action for about four weeks Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports Friday. Brossoit could be back a little before the four-week mark, according to general manager Kyle Davidson. The netminder inked a two-year contract with Chicago in the summer after spending the 2023-24 campaign as the backup in Winnipeg to Connor Hellebuyck. Brossoit posted a solid 15-5-2 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .927 save percentage in 23 regular-season outings. Once healthy, he will battle Petr Mrazek for the No. 1 job with the Blackhawks in 2024-25.
