Penguins' Brett Kulak: Activated from non-roster list
Kulak (not injured related) was added to the active roster Monday.
After being acquired by Pittsburgh from Edmonton on Friday, Kulak sat out two straight games as a non-roster player while he settled his immigration paperwork. Now that he has received clearance, he should be available to make his Pittsburgh debut against his former team when the Penguins host the Oilers on Tuesday. Kulak has two assists, 33 shots on goal and 38 blocked shots in 31 appearances this season.

Penguins' Brett Kulak: Unavailable Saturday
Kulak (not injury related) won't be available for Saturday's game against San Jose after being given non-roster status.
Kulak was dealt to Pittsburgh from Edmonton on Friday and needs to settle some immigration paperwork before being available to play. He had two assists in 31 games with the Oilers this season.

Penguins' Brett Kulak: Included in Jarry deal
Kulak was flipped to the Penguins from the Oilers on Friday, along with Stuart Skinner and a 2029 second-round pick, in exchange for Tristan Jarry and Samuel Poulin.
Kulak joins a crowded blue line that already includes veterans Connor Clifton and Matt Dumba, which makes it difficult to see where he fits into the lineup. In 31 games this year, the 31-year-old Kulak notched two helpers but has yet to find the back of the net while registering 33 shots. With general manager Kyle Dubas stockpiling defensemen, it's possible he's not done wheeling and dealing.

Kulak was not one of the 11 Oilers to get on the scoresheet in this blowout win. During the slump, the defenseman has 29 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating. He's been a fixture on the third pairing, but Kulak's total lack of offense -- two assists in 28 outings -- makes him a no-go for most fantasy formats.

Kulak registered two assists and tallied a blocked shot in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Detroit.
Kulak had a secondary helper on Noah Philp's goal before distributing the primary assist on Leon Draisaitl's tally. The 31-year-old defenseman now has two helpers and six blocks through six games this season. He is coming off a career-high 25 points in 82 regular-season in 2024-25. If he can continue to find Draisaitl and the rest of Edmonton's offensive threats, Kulak might be able to push for a career high in assists after distributing a personal-best 18 last year. For now, however, he is best kept off the fantasy radar.

Kulak was absent from Monday's practice but appears to have recovered from his illness ahead of Tuesday's tilt. The defenseman has already set new career highs in goals (seven), points (21) and average ice time (20:06) with games still remaining. Edmonton recalled Cam Dineen from AHL Bakersfield on an emergency basis Monday, so Kulak's availability for Tuesday's game against the Ducks is in question. Kulak has yet to miss a game this season. If the left-shot blueliner can't suit up Tuesday, Troy Stecher or Dineen will fill his spot in the lineup.

Kulak has three helpers over three games to begin February. The 31-year-old defenseman helped out on Viktor Arvidsson's opening tally in the second period.
