Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: First assist since return
Drouin recorded an assist and put a shot in goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Drouin chipped in with a secondary helper on Emil Heineman's goal within the first five minutes of the opening period. With the helper, Drouin is up to 13 assists, 16 points and 40 shots on net through 28 games this season. With Kyle Palmieri (knee) out for the season, Drouin should play elevated responsibilities, and he has recorded at least 20 minutes of ice time in both games he has appeared in since his return from a back injury. His move up to the top line displayed the confidence that the Isles' coaching staff has in the 30-year-old winger, who scored 56 points in 79 regular-season games just two years ago. Drouin is a buy-low candidate in fantasy with high upside if he can retain his new role.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Ready for Saturday
Drouin (back) is participating at Friday's optional practice and is slated to return to action Saturday versus Tampa Bay, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Drouin was in a slump prior to getting hurt, as he had only one assist in a nine-game span from Nov. 16 - Dec. 2. Overall, the 30-year-old has three goals and 12 assists in 26 appearances. He should slot back as a top-six forward upon his return.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Won't play versus Ducks
Drouin (back) will not be in the lineup against Anaheim on Thursday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Drouin has been out of action for the Isles' last four contests and will now be on the shelf for a fifth. Prior to suffering his back injury, the 30-year-old center was mired in a nine-game goal drought during which he registered one assist, 17 shots and six blocks while averaging 18:52 of ice time. With Drouin on the shelf, the Isles have shifted Jean-Gabriel Pageau to the wing on the second line for Mathew Barzal.

Drouin (back) isn't expected to play against Vegas on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Drouin is poised to miss his fourth straight game, but he did skate on his own with skills coach Troy Stevens on Tuesday. The 30-year-old Drouin has three goals, 15 points and 38 shots on net across 26 appearances this season.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Not on road trip
Drouin (back) didn't accompany the Islanders on the team's two-game road trip, according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com on Saturday.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Late scratch Thursday
Drouin (lower body) was a late scratch for Thursday's game against Colorado.
Drouin has three goals and 15 points in 26 outings this season. He's considered day-to-day, so it remains to be seen if he'll play Saturday or Sunday against Tampa Bay or Florida, respectively. Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Scores tying goal
Drouin scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.
The goal was technically an own goal by the Mammoth, so Drouin scored without officially recording a shot on goal in this contest. It was initially waved off for a kicking motion before a video review ruled Drouin was not the one to propel the puck into the net. The 30-year-old is up to two goals and five assists during his four-game point streak. For the season, the forward has three goals, 14 points, 21 shots on net, 17 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 17 appearances.

Drouin is heating up in a big way with six points over three games to begin this road trip for the Islanders. The 30-year-old has earned two of his five helpers in that span on the power play. Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Tallies trio of points
Drouin scored a goal, registered two assists and recorded a block in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Rangers.
Drouin found twine with less than a minute to play in the first period before picking up two assists, with his first being on a power play. It was a much-needed performance for him, as he was on a four-game scoreless streak. Overall, the 30-year-old forward has two goals, 10 points and 17 shots on net in 14 appearances this season. While Drouin's numbers don't immediately jump off the page, he is averaging a career-high 4:08 of power-play time this season. His extra time with the man advantage could continue to pay dividends as he chases the fourth 50-point season of his 12-year career. With his current opportunities in the Islanders' top six and solid output offensively, Drouin has good value in deeper fantasy leagues.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Assist streak at three games
Drouin registered an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Senators.
Drouin has a helper in each of his three outings since returning from a one-game suspension for cross-checking in the season-opener versus the Penguins. He's gotten on the scoresheet in all four games this season, with one goal and three assists. He's added seven shots on net, 15 PIM and a plus-5 rating. Drouin adds next to nothing in the physical categories, but he's clearly finding a groove in the Islanders' top six.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Receives one-game ban
Drouin has been suspended for one game by the Department of Player Safety on Friday for his cross-check against Pittsburgh's Connor Dewar.
Drouin's game misconduct came with less than a minute left in the game, which could have been a factor in the league's decision to suspend him since it had little impact on Thursday's tilt. With Drouin unavailable to face the Capitals on Saturday, Maxim Shabanov could be elevated to a second-line role while Marc Gatcomb figures to step into the lineup.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Having hearing with league office
Drouin will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Friday for cross-checking Pittsburgh's Connor Dewar.
Drouin appeared to catch Dewar in the face with a cross-check during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. The 30-year-old Drouin was hit with a five-minute cross-checking penalty in addition to a 10-minute game misconduct, though both penalties came with just 15 seconds left in the contest. At a minimum, fantasy managers should expect Drouin to be suspended for at least Saturday's clash with the Capitals, though it could be longer.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Back in practice
Drouin (illness) took part in line rushes during Sunday's practice, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Drouin should be available for the Islanders' regular-season opener against Pittsburgh on Thursday. At practice, the 30-year-old was playing on the top line alongside Bo Horvat and Emil Heineman, so Drouin seems slated to be a vital part of the team's offense this season.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Not expected to play Thursday
Head coach Patrick Roy said Wednesday that he doesn't expect Drouin (illness) to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Flyers, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Drouin didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. He will likely sit out of the Islanders' preseason finale as a precaution. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him in the mix to suit up against the Penguins on Oct. 9 when the regular season begins.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Dealing with illness
Drouin didn't skate during Wednesday's practice session due to an illness, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Drouin inked a two-year, $8 million contract with the Islanders during the offseason, but his status for the team's preseason finale against the Flyers on Thursday appears to be in question. However, it seems unlikely that he'll be forced to miss extensive time, so even if he sits out Thursday, he should be in the mix to suit up for the Islanders' Opening Night matchup against Pittsburgh on Oct. 9.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Pens two-year deal Tuesday
Drouin signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Islanders on Tuesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Drouin made 43 regular-season appearances with Colorado last season, providing 11 goals, 37 points and a plus-4 rating. The 2013 first-round selection won't be insulated by high-end talent like he was with the Avs, but he has a chance to earn a top-six role with the Isles in 2025-26. The 30-year-old will certainly receive time on the power play, with the chance to work his way onto the No. 1 unit alongside players like Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat. As such, Drouin could carve out decent fantasy value throughout the life of his new deal.
