Drouin has been suspended for one game by the Department of Player Safety on Friday for his cross-check against Pittsburgh's Connor Dewar.
Drouin's game misconduct came with less than a minute left in the game, which could have been a factor in the league's decision to suspend him since it had little impact on Thursday's tilt. With Drouin unavailable to face the Capitals on Saturday, Maxim Shabanov could be elevated to a second-line role while Marc Gatcomb figures to step into the lineup.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Having hearing with league office
Drouin will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Friday for cross-checking Pittsburgh's Connor Dewar.
Drouin appeared to catch Dewar in the face with a cross-check during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. The 30-year-old Drouin was hit with a five-minute cross-checking penalty in addition to a 10-minute game misconduct, though both penalties came with just 15 seconds left in the contest. At a minimum, fantasy managers should expect Drouin to be suspended for at least Saturday's clash with the Capitals, though it could be longer.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Back in practice
Drouin (illness) took part in line rushes during Sunday's practice, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Drouin should be available for the Islanders' regular-season opener against Pittsburgh on Thursday. At practice, the 30-year-old was playing on the top line alongside Bo Horvat and Emil Heineman, so Drouin seems slated to be a vital part of the team's offense this season.

Head coach Patrick Roy said Wednesday that he doesn't expect Drouin (illness) to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Flyers, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Drouin didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. He will likely sit out of the Islanders' preseason finale as a precaution. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him in the mix to suit up against the Penguins on Oct. 9 when the regular season begins.

Islanders' Jonathan Drouin: Pens two-year deal Tuesday
Drouin signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Islanders on Tuesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Drouin made 43 regular-season appearances with Colorado last season, providing 11 goals, 37 points and a plus-4 rating. The 2013 first-round selection won't be insulated by high-end talent like he was with the Avs, but he has a chance to earn a top-six role with the Isles in 2025-26. The 30-year-old will certainly receive time on the power play, with the chance to work his way onto the No. 1 unit alongside players like Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat. As such, Drouin could carve out decent fantasy value throughout the life of his new deal.

Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Snags assist with man advantage
Drouin logged a power-play assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Stars in Game 4.
Drouin is up to three helpers, all on the power play, over four playoff contests. However, his outlook is dimming -- he was bumped down to the third line Saturday and saw a team-low 9:53 of ice time, while Gabriel Landeskog moved into the top six and took over Drouin's spot on the first power-play unit. Drouin has added four shots on net, three hits, three blocked shots and a minus-2 rating. He's struggled at times when the Avalanche were healthy and he saw less time, so this move doesn't bode well for his short-term production.
