  • Avalanche's Brock Nelson: Lights lamp Friday

Nelson scored a goal on two shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights.

Nelson has scored twice over the last three games. The 34-year-old center is still looking for a rhythm on offense -- he has yet to post a multi-point performance this season, and just one of his four points has come on the power play. He's added 19 shots on net, nine hits, 10 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-5 rating over 12 appearances in a second-line role.

  • Avalanche's Brock Nelson: Grabs goal in defeat

Nelson registered a goal on two shots on target, a plus-1 rating and two penalty minutes during his 17:40 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Devils.

It's been a tough start to the season for Nelson offensively, so it's a good sign to see him get a goal against the Devils. The 34-year-old has seen plenty of ice time and has a plus-4 rating, but whether that's more to do with him or the quality of the team around him remains to be seen. Both fantasy managers and the Avalanche alike will need much more from Nelson, who had his ninth 20-goal season in the NHL just last year but has mustered only three points through 10 games in 2025-26.

Nelson inked a three-year, $22.5 million contract with Colorado on Wednesday.

With Nelson's signature, the Avs have locked up their No. 2 center behind Nathan MacKinnon. In his short stint with the Avs, Nelson racked up six goals and seven assists in 19 regular-season contests, reaching the 50-point threshold for the fourth straight year.
