Stars' Matt Duchene: Inks four-year extension
Duchene signed a four-year, $18 million contract extension with Dallas on Thursday.
Duchene was outstanding last season, registering 30 goals and 52 assists, his second-best regular season in his NHL career. The 34-year-old had 27 points on the power play as well as 152 shots on goal. Duchene struggled during the playoffs with only one goal, five assists and a minus-16 rating across 18 postseason appearances.

Stars' Matt Duchene: Nets go-ahead goal
Duchene scored a power-play goal and went minus-2 in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Oilers in Game 1.
The third-period tally ended a 17-game goal drought for Duchene, dating back to April 10. His goal Wednesday also stood as the game-winner. The center has earned all six of his points this postseason on the power play while adding 18 shots on net, 11 hits, 12 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 14 appearances. Duchene was a point-per-game player in the regular season, so the Stars will want Wednesday's effort to spark his offense in the rest of the Western Conference Finals.

Stars' Matt Duchene: Helps out on power play
Duchene notched a power-play assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Jets in Game 4.
Duchene had the secondary helper on Mikael Granlund's hat-trick-clinching tally in the third period. The 34-year-old Duchene has earned two assists over four games in the second round. He's at five helpers this postseason, all of which have come on the power play. The center has added 14 shots on net, nine hits, nine blocked shots and a minus-8 rating over 11 playoff contests.

Duchene still has yet to score this postseason, but all four of his assists in the playoffs have come over the last four games. The 34-year-old looks to be heating up, especially with the man advantage, which is where he's earned all four helpers. Duchene has added 11 shots on net, six blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over eight playoff outings.

After a 30-goal, 82-point effort over 82 regular-season games, Duchene has been quiet in the playoffs -- this was his first point in five postseason games. He's added eight shots on net, four hits, three blocked shots and a minus-3 rating against the Avalanche. The Stars have mostly succeeded on thin margins so far, but getting Duchene's offense going would help them advance to the second round.
