  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Slated to pace backfield in Week 9

Monangai is poised to lead the Bears backfield Sunday at Cincinnati in the wake of D'Andre Swift (groin) being ruled out, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Both Swift and Roschon Johnson (back) were unable to practice this week due to their respective injuries, and Chicago ruled out both players on Friday's practice report. Swift's health concern in particular has been lingering for weeks, so perhaps the Bears are giving him the week off with the long term in mind. In any case, Monangai will be the primary beneficiary Sunday, and the rookie seventh-round pick's average of 4.4 yards per carry so far as a pro indicates a fruitful performance is very possible against the Bengals' league-worst run defense (151.9 yards per game).

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

D'Andre Swift is a must-start running back in Week 9 at the Bengals, but I like Monangai as a flex option as well. Cincinnati is No. 1 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and 12 running backs have scored at least 11.5 PPR points against the Bengals, including two duos from the Jaguars, Broncos, Lions and Jets. Monangai scored 17.4 PPR points in Week 7 against New Orleans, and he should have another productive outing in Week 9 in this matchup.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Contrarian DFS Play

Did you see the Bengals trying to tackle Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis on Sunday? While D'Andre Swift is a very good play, Monangai may fly under the radar after he only had seven touches against the Ravens. I would expect a more run-heavy approach against the Bengals and think there is a chance both Bears running backs get into the end zone.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Moderate usage in backfield

Monangai rushed seven times for 24 yards and caught his lone target for 25 yards in the Bears' 30-16 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. Monangai has between 16 and 24 rushing yards in three of his last four contests, with an 81-yard effort and a touchdown in Week 7. His current workload keeps him a fantasy reserve unless opportunities expand.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Week 8 Adds (RB Preview)

There is unfortunately not a great running back add this week to make up for our bye week blues. But Monangai is coming off a 15-touch game in which he scored 16.4 PPR Fantasy points. He is also facing a Ravens defense that has given up the third-most Fantasy points to opposing running backs, though I do expect a different Ravens team coming off the bye with Lamar Jackson likely back.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Week 8 Waiver Priority List

Monangai looked great in tandem with D'Andre Swift in Week 7 against New Orleans, and we'll see if that gives Monangai more work moving forward. He's worth adding in all leagues for at least 5 percent of your remaining FAB, and Monangai has flex appeal in his next two matchups against the Ravens in Week 8 and the Bengals in Week 9. He played a season-high 45 percent of the snaps against the Saints, and keep in mind that Swift was dealing with a groin injury prior to the game. If Swift were to miss any time then Monangai would be a lottery ticket in all formats.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Finds end zone

Monangai rushed 13 times for 81 yards and one touchdown and caught two passes for 13 yards in the Bears' 26-14 win over the Saints on Sunday. Monangai recorded his first game with more than seven rushes and 28 yards. Some of his increased work came because the Bears won by double digits. It's unlikely this level of workload continues unless D'Andre Swift misses time.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Limited role in backfield

Monangai rushed five times for 19 yards and caught his lone target for 25 yards in the Bears' 25-24 win over the Commanders on Monday. Monangai has fewer than 20 rushing yards in three straight contests, but he reached a season-high 25 receiving yards in Week 6, keeping him in a fantasy reserve role.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: DNP with thigh injury

Monangai (thigh) did not practice Thursday. It's Monangai's first appearance on the injury report this season. The seventh-round rookie has carried the ball just 17 times for 62 scoreless yards through four games, adding three catches for 23 yards on five targets. Monangai is little more than an end-of-bench stash in fantasy.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Week 4 Waiver Priority List

Monangai had six carries for 16 yards and one catch for 4 yards in Week 3 against Dallas, and he now has 15 total touches in his past two games. The Bears might continue to give him work in tandem with D'Andre Swift, and if Monangai starts to improve we could see a shift in playing time since Swift has struggled to start the season. Monangai is worth stashing on your bench for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Handles first NFL rushing attempts

Monangai rushed seven times for 28 yards and caught one of three targets for eight yards in the Bears' 52-21 loss to the Lions on Sunday. Monangai saw extended work in a game during which the Bears were blown out, and he is the clear No. 2 running back behind D'Andre Swift in the Chicago backfield in a game for which Roschon Johnson was active. The rookie may not see consistent work, but Monangai could be in line for a sizable backfield role should Swift miss time.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Light role behind Swift in opener

Monangai played nine of the Bears' 67 snaps on offense and hauled in his lone target for an 11-yard reception in Monday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings. With Roschon Johnson (foot) inactive for Week 1, Monangai began his NFL career as the No. 2 back behind D'Andre Swift, but the rookie seventh-round pick predictably saw limited usage. Though his reception went for a first down and lead to an eventual touchdown, Monangai might have undone any goodwill by committing a drive-killing offensive holding penalty in the second quarter. He didn't have a role on special teams in the opener, so he could be at risk of finding himself on the inactive list when Johnson gets healthy and special-teams standout Travis Homer (calf) returns from the PUP list.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Ready for Week 1

Monangai (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation for Monday's regular-season opener at home against the Vikings. Monangai practiced in full Saturday after being listed as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, fellow backup running back Roschon Johnson is officially questionable after turning in a DNP/DNP/LP practice slate. If Johnson is officially ruled out for Monday's game, Monangai will be positioned for the clear No. 2 backfield role behind starter D'Andre Swift.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Limited with hamstring injury

Monangai (hamstring) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate. Monangai was tagged as limited Thursday after having missed Chicago's preseason finale, while No. 2 running back Roschon Johnson (foot) was a DNP. The statuses of both Monangai and Johnson will need to be monitored heading into Monday night's Week 1 matchup at home against the Vikings, as starter D'Andre Swift currently stands as the Bears' only fully healthy backfield option.

  • Bears' Kyle Monangai: Battling for depth role

Monangai is a longshot for touches but could climb the Bears' depth chart Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports. After being drafted in the seventh round, the rookie enters a crowded backfield behind D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson. Monangai will likely begin as the RB3 or RB4 but brings a productive college resume, including consecutive 1,200-yard seasons at Rutgers. Unless injuries occur, Monangai may be limited to special teams and spot work early in the year.
