Lambert-Smith caught his only target for 21 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Rams.
Lambert-Smith worked behind the starters and ended up logging 16 offensive snaps. Over the course of the exhibition slate, Lambert-Smith led the Chargers in receptions (seven), targets (11) and receiving yards (93). That could help him in his battle for positioning in the Chargers' WR pecking order, though Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Tre' Harris (undisclosed) are all comfortably ahead of him on the depth chart.

Chargers' KeAndre Lambert-Smith: Four targets in blowout loss
Lambert-Smith caught two of four targets for 14 yards in Thursday night's 41-17 preseason loss to the 49ers.
Lambert-Smith also returned two punts for 15 total yards. The wide receiver played 34 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps, garnering a decent amount of attention for the time he was on the field. The second-year player out of Auburn is fighting for position in the team's wide receiver corps, with Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston (lower body), Tre' Harris (undisclosed) and Brenen Thompson all currently set to see more snaps.

Chargers' KeAndre Lambert-Smith: Drilling during OTAs
Lambert-Smith (hamstring) is participating during the Chargers' OTAs, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports.
Lambert-Smith played in only 10 games during his rookie season last year, in part because he was tending to a lingering hamstring injury. The Chargers' only big move at wide receiver during the offseason was selecting Brenen Thompson in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Lambert-Smith is one of a few players working on returning punts during offseason workouts, so now that he's back to full strength, he should have a realistic chance of snagging a spot on the 53-man roster for this season.

Lambert-Smith opened the Chargers' week of practice with consecutive DNPs after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Week 18 loss to the Broncos, so it's no surprise that he won't play Sunday. The rookie wideout from Auburn logged just 53 offensive snaps over 10 regular-season contests this season, catching five of 12 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown. Kimani Vidal will likely step in and operate as one of the Chargers' top kick returners while Lambert-Smith is sidelined for the wild-card round.

Lambert-Smith (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Lambert-Smith suffered a hamstring injury during the Chargers' Week 18 loss to the Broncos and was unable to return to the contest.
