  • Packers' Luke Lachey: Hooks back on with Packers

Green Bay signed Lachey to a contract Monday.

Lachey was drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by Houston and spent all of last season on the Texans' practice squad. The Packers plucked him off waivers in mid-May but subsequently waived him with a failed physical. Lachey appears to be past whatever was ailing him given his reunion with Green Bay. He'll compete for a depth role in the team's TE corps, though it wouldn't be surprising if he begins the campaign on the practice squad.

  • Luke Lachey: Waived after failed physical

The Packers waived Lachey (undisclosed) after a failed physical Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Lachey spent the 2025 season on the Texans' practice squad. The Texans waived him Monday, and after the Packers claimed him off waivers, he'll go back to the waiver wire due to a failed physical. Lachey (6-foot-6, 247 pounds) never surpassed 28 receptions or 400 receiving yards through his four years at college.

  • Packers' Luke Lachey: Claimed by Green Bay

The Packers claimed Lachey off waivers Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Lachey is headed to Green Bay after having been waived by the Texans on Monday. The 24-year-old will look to earn a spot on the Packers' final roster and make his regular-season debut during the upcoming campaign.

  • Luke Lachey: Let go by Houston

The Texans waived Lachey on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Lachey was waived by the Texans last August before signing a reserve/future contract with the team in late January. The tight end will once again be culled to preserve roster spots, as the Texans signed running back Evan Hull in a corresponding move. Lachey will become a free agent if he clears waivers.

  • Texans' Luke Lachey: Inks future deal with Houston

The Texans signed Lachey to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Selected by the Texans in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Lachey spent his entire rookie season on Houston's practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was not elevated to the active roster, but he'll be part of the Texans' 90-man roster for the offseason and will be eligible to participate in OTAs in minicamp.

  • Luke Lachey: Casualty of cutdown day

The Texans waived Lachey on Tuesday.

Houston selected Lachey in the seventh round of April's NFL Draft, and he caught five of six targets for 21 yards over three preseason games. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Lachey will likely land on the Texans' practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Texans' Luke Lachey: Nabbed by Texans in seventh round

The Texans selected Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 255th overall.

Lachey racked up 28 catches in two different seasons (2022 and 2024) at Iowa, adding 231 receiving yards last season. Sandwiched in the middle was a significant ankle injury in 2023 that cost him all but three games. He managed only 8.3 yards per reception in 2024 after averaging at least 13.1 yards per catch in each of the three years prior. Lachey doesn't possess elite speed to stretch the field but should be serviceable as a run blocker if called upon and will try to claim a 53-man roster spot in camp.
