  • Luke Lachey: Gets cut from IR

Green Bay waived Lachey (foot) from its injured reserve list with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Lachey was going to have to spend the whole 2026 campaign on IR, but he's now on track to become a free agent instead, assuming he clears waivers. Once he's recovered from the left foot injury he's tending to, he'll be able to suit up with any club that offers him a contract.

  • Packers' Luke Lachey: Reverting to IR

Lachey (foot) reverted from waivers to Green Bay's injured reserve list Wednesday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Lachey didn't get claimed by another team after the Packers waived him with a left foot injury Tuesday, and now he's in line to spend the whole year on IR recovering. In his absence, Messiah Swinson and McCallan Castles could see increased reps at practice.

  • Luke Lachey: Waived/injured by Green Bay

The Packers waived Lachey (foot) with an injury designation Tuesday.

Lachey is currently in a walking boot and using a scooter due to a left foot injury. Once he clears waivers, Lachey will head to the Packers' injured reserve list. He can then be cut with an injury settlement at a later date or spend the entirety of the 2026 season there.

Lachey is in a walking boot after suffering a left foot injury at practice last week, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

In addition to the walking boot, Lachey is using a scooter to get around the facility. A seventh-round pick in the 2025 Draft, Lachey spent the entirety of last season on the Texans' practice squad and is still looking to make his regular-season NFL debut. He's competing for a job in Green Bay this summer.

  • Packers' Luke Lachey: Hooks back on with Packers

Green Bay signed Lachey to a contract Monday.

Lachey was drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by Houston and spent all of last season on the Texans' practice squad. The Packers plucked him off waivers in mid-May but subsequently waived him with a failed physical. Lachey appears to be past whatever was ailing him given his reunion with Green Bay. He'll compete for a depth role in the team's TE corps, though it wouldn't be surprising if he begins the campaign on the practice squad.

The Texans waived Lachey on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Lachey was waived by the Texans last August before signing a reserve/future contract with the team in late January. • Texans' Luke Lachey: Inks future deal with Houston

The Texans signed Lachey to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Selected by the Texans in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Lachey spent his entire rookie season on Houston's practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was not elevated to the active roster, but he'll be part of the Texans' 90-man roster for the offseason and will be eligible to participate in OTAs in minicamp.

  • Luke Lachey: Casualty of cutdown day

The Texans waived Lachey on Tuesday.

  • Texans' Luke Lachey: Nabbed by Texans in seventh round

The Texans selected Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 255th overall.

Lachey racked up 28 catches in two different seasons (2022 and 2024) at Iowa, adding 231 receiving yards last season. Sandwiched in the middle was a significant ankle injury in 2023 that cost him all but three games. He managed only 8.3 yards per reception in 2024 after averaging at least 13.1 yards per catch in each of the three years prior. Lachey doesn't possess elite speed to stretch the field but should be serviceable as a run blocker if called upon and will try to claim a 53-man roster spot in camp.
