  • Harrison Mevis: Practice-squad bound

Mevis signed with the Jets' practice squad Wednesday. Mevis impressed in the UFL during the 2025 season, connecting on 20 of 21 field-goal attempts. He hit three of four field goals during the preseason but missed his lone attempt from beyond 50 yards. Meanwhile, veteran Nick Folk won the kicking job after a perfect preseason in addition to a lengthy track record. Mevis will be the next man up in case Folk gets injured or his accuracy drops off.

  • Harrison Mevis: Loses kicking competition

Mevis was waived Tuesday, Randy Lange and Eric Allen of the Jets' official site report. Mevis was considered the underdog in the team's kicking competition after the Jets signed Nick Folk in July, and the team will indeed go with the veteran Folk to begin the season. Mevis has yet to kick in a regular-season NFL game, but injuries or struggles from kickers across the league could open up an opportunity at some point for the former UFL standout.

  • Jets' Harrison Mevis: Misses 55-yard attempt Friday

Mevis missed his only field-goal attempt from 55 yards in Friday's 19-17 preseason loss to the Eagles. Mevis has a bigger leg than Nick Folk, but the latter's accuracy already had Folk pegged as the favorite in the Jets' kicking competition, and Friday's results may have sealed the deal for Folk, who made his only field-goal attempt from 41 yards. The Jets will almost certainly cut down to one kicker prior to the Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Steelers.

  • Jets' Harrison Mevis: Latches on with Jets

The Jets signed Mevis to a contract Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Mevis spent time with Carolina in 2024 after going undrafted out of Missouri, but he wasn't able to stick on the Panthers' regular-season roster. He resurfaced with the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL for their 2025 season, converting 20 of 21 field-goal attempts. Mevis now joins a kicker competition that includes Caden Davis and Anders Carlson, with the latter being the favorite to win the starting job ahead of Week 1.

  • Harrison Mevis: Waived by Carolina

Mevis was waived by the Panthers on Sunday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. The kicker signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in April after making 24 of 30 field goal attempts at Missouri last year, including a 61-yard conversion that set an SEC record. Mevis had a chance to challenge Eddy Pineiro, Carolina's kicker the last two seasons, but Pineiro remains on the roster.
