Panthers' Cam Gill: Rejoining Carolina
The Panthers signed Gill to a contract Friday.
This is not Gill's first stint with the Panthers, as he first suited up in Carolina in October 2024 after a stint on the Lions' practice squad. The linebacker spent this past spring in the UFL, where he led the league with 10.0 sacks in 2026. Gill will replace Nic Scourton (knee) on the active roster for the time being after the weak-side linebacker went down with an ACL injury during the first practice of training camp.

Panthers' Cam Gill: Headed to Carolina
Gill was signed from the Lions' practice squad to the Panthers' active roster Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Gill was with the Panthers during training camp, but he was unable to make the 53-man roster after injuring his ankle in the preseason finale. Gill will provide depth at linebacker for the Panthers, who are dealing with multiple injuries at the position including to Jadeveon Clowney (shoulder), Josey Jewell (hamstring), Claudin Cherelus (hamstring) and Jon Rhattigan (knee). Gill primarily served on special teams across 15 regular-season games for Tampa Bay in 2023 and finished with 12 tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Cam Gill: Works out with Miami
Gill (ankle) had a workout with the Dolphins on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The Dolphins are looking to add edge-rushing depth after Jaelan Phillips was placed on injured reserve Thursday due to a season-ending partial right ACL tear he suffered in Week 4 against the Titans. Gill spent this past training camp with the Panthers, but he was let go with an injury settlement Sept. 5 after injuring his ankle during Carolina's preseason finale. He appeared in 15 regular-season games with the Bucs in 2023 and finished with 12 tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Cam Gill: Let go with injury settlement
The Panthers waived Gill (ankle) from injured reserve Thursday with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Gill landed on the Panthers' IR on Aug. 27 after sustaining an ankle injury in the preseason finale against the Bills. His placement on IR meant he was set to miss the entire 2024 season, but the injury settlement allows Gill to sign with a team once he's fully recovered from his ankle injury. He mostly operated on special teams across his 15 regular-season appearances with the Buccaneers in 2023, and he finished with a career-high 12 tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Panthers' Cam Gill: Placed on IR
The Panthers placed Gill (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official website reports.
Gill injured his ankle in Carolina's final preseason game. He was not placed on the IR-designated to return list, so his season will come to an end unless both he and the Panthers can reach an injury settlement down the road. He was competing for a depth linebacker role with the Panthers.

Panthers' Cam Gill: Staying in NFC South
The Panthers signed Gill on Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The Wagner product spent the first three seasons of his career with the Buccaneers, and he'll remain in the NFC South after inking a deal with the Panthers. Gill was a key special teamer during his time in Tampa Bay, playing 768 special teams snaps (out of 952 total snaps) and recording 29 total tackles, including one tackle for loss and 1.5 sacks across the last three years. He's expected to compete for another special teams role in Carolina, while also providing some extra depth to the team's pass-rushing unit.

Gill (knee) is active for Sunday's contest versus the Panthers.
Gill was questionable entering Sunday due to a knee issue, but he's been cleared to play. The third-year linebacker has worked primarily on special teams this season, though he logged a season-high 22 defensive snaps against New Orleans last Sunday. Gill will now be forced to sit out the entirety of the 2022 regular season while on injured reserve, barring any injury settlement this offseason. The 24-year-old was set to step up into a bigger role in Tampa Bay's pass rushing corps behind outside linebackers Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Shaquil Barrett after playing primarily on special teams over his first two seasons. With Gill sidelined, Carl Nassib and Anthony Nelson should now round out the Buccaneers' rotation at edge rusher.

Buccaneers' Cam Gill: Undergoes foot procedure
Gill has received surgery for a Lisfranc injury he sustained during last Saturday's preseason opener against the Dolphins, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The timetable for Gill's recovery is unclear at the moment, but it sounds like head coach Todd Bowles thinks the third-year linebacker could be out for a little while, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. In the Bucs' preseason opener against Miami, Gill recorded four tackles and one sack before exiting the game with his injury. After mostly playing special teams snaps in his first two seasons, the 24-year-old is in line (assuming good health) to receive a greater rotational role behind projected starting pass rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, given Jason Pierre-Paul is now a free agent and no longer with the team.
