Williams didn't make the 53-man roster out of training camp, but he was elevated from the practice squad for the Week 1 loss versus the Cardinals, when he played 12 defensive snaps and recorded one tackle. The 30-year-old defensive end figures to handle a similar role in Week 2 versus the 49ers.

Williams was with the Rams earlier this season but was waived in early November. He was claimed by Minnesota but then failed a physical and will now land back on the Rams' practice squad. In eight games this season with Los Angeles, Williams recorded five tackles in eight games.
