Bears' Douglas Coleman: Goes to injured reserve
The Bears reverted Coleman (upper body) to injured reserve Wednesday.
Coleman was hurt in Chicago's preseason finale last Thursday and exited the field on a backboard. He was released from the hospital the following day and was waived/injured by the Bears on Saturday. Because he's cleared waivers, Coleman will miss the entire 2024 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

Douglas Coleman: Waived by Chicago
Coleman (upper body) was waived with an injury designation by the Bears on Saturday.
Coleman will revert to injured reserve Wednesday if he's not claimed off waivers. The safety exited Chicago's preseason game Thursday on a backboard after hitting a receiver with his head, shoulder and neck. The 26-year-old has spent time with the Broncos and Bears but has yet to appear in a regular-season NFL game.

Bears' Douglas Coleman: Released from hospital
Coleman (upper body) was released from the hospital and walking around Friday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Coleman exited Thursday's preseason matchup on a backboard after hitting receiver Cornell Powell with his head, shoulder and neck. The 26-year-old's status moving forward remains unknown, although it was also reported that he was in good spirits Friday.

Bears' Douglas Coleman: Undergoing further evaluation
Coleman (upper body) is undergoing further evaluation at a local hospital, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Coleman was taken off the field of Thursday's preseason game on a backboard, though Coach Matt Eberflus did note that he had movement in all of his extremities. There is no further update about the nature of the injury.

Bears' Douglas Coleman: Leaves preseason game
Coleman exited Thursday night's preseason game against the Chiefs with an upper body injury, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Coleman was taken off the field on a backboard. The nature of his injury isn't yet known. The 26-year-old originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech in 2020 but spent the 2021-2023 seasons out of the league before signing with the Bears back in January.
