  • Saints' Martin Emerson: Headed to New Orleans

The Saints signed Emerson on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Emerson worked out with the team earlier in the day and seemingly impressed enough to earn a contract. The 25-year-old has spent the entirety of his three-year career with Cleveland, totaling 202 tackles (158 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and four interceptions across 50 games. With the Saints lacking proven talent at cornerback, Emerson could have a chance to start alongside Kool-Aid McKinstry during the 2026 campaign.

  • Martin Emerson: Visiting with New Orleans

Emerson is visiting the Saints on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Mississippi State product was sidelined for the entire 2025 campaign due to a torn Achilles, but he's now visited with the Texans and Saints in April, suggesting he's moved past the issue. Emerson was a crucial part of the Browns' defense from 2022 to 2023, appearing in 33 regular-season games and logging 122 total tackles and 29 passes defensed, including four interceptions.

  • Martin Emerson: Visiting with Texans

Houston is hosting Emerson (Achilles) for a visit on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Emerson missed the entire 2025 campaign in Cleveland due to an Achilles tear suffered last July, but it appears he's now ready to pass a physical and sign with a new team. The 2022 third-round pick started 27 games across his tenure with the Browns.

  • Browns' Martin Emerson: Becomes unrestricted FA

Emerson (Achilles) becomes an unrestricted free agent when the offseason begins in March, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Emerson, who hoped to earn a contract extension this season, missed all of 2025 after tearing an Achilles last July. After two strong years upon his arrival as a third-round pick in 2022, Emerson experienced a regression in 2024 before suffering the injury. There hasn't been much news regarding the cornerback's recovery, although other players with a similar injury typically required six to eight months. That puts Emerson in line to be ready for offseason activities.

  • Browns' Martin Emerson: Out for season

Emerson (Achilles) was ruled out for the season Wednesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

After leaving practice on a cart Tuesday following a non-contact injury, Emerson will be out for the season with a ruptured Achilles, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Wednesday. The 24-year-old appeared in all 17 games last season, starting 15 and tallying 80 tackles. Greg Newsome, who normally plays nickel corner, is now expected to take Emerson's spot in base defense alongside Denzel Ward.

  • Browns' Martin Emerson: Placed on IR

The Browns placed Emerson (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Emerson will miss the entire 2025 season after tearing his left Achilles during Tuesday's practice. Greg Newsome is expected to shift to outside corner opposite Denzel Ward in Emerson's absence. Emerson played in all 17 regular-season games for the Browns in 2024 and tallied 80 tackles (62 solo), five pass defenses, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

  • Browns' Martin Emerson: Suffers Achilles injury Tuesday

Emerson suffered a left Achilles injury during practice Tuesday and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the extent of the issue, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network relays that the cornerback is set to undergo imaging to determine the full extent of his injury. The expectation is that it's a significant Achilles tear for Emerson, who logged 80 tackles in 2024 as was set to start once again opposite Denzel Ward in the secondary.

  • Browns' Martin Emerson: Working in OTAs

Emerson (ankle) participated during OTAs on Tuesday, Kennedy Rodriguez of the Browns' official site reports.

Emerson left Cleveland's last game of the 2024 campaign early with an ankle injury, but it doesn't seem to have carried over into the offseason. He's now entering the final year of his rookie deal after recording a career-high 80 tackles last season. He figures to start alongside Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome in 2025.
