Slovis wasn't able to crack the Texans' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he'll get a new opportunity with the Cardinals on the practice squad. The BYU product would be in line to be elevated to the active roster if Kyler Murray or Jacoby Brissett were to miss time.

The undrafted rookie quarterback out of BYU failed to make the Colts' initial 53-man roster Tuesday and has since since signed with Houston's practice squad. During Slovis' final collegiate season, he threw for 1,716 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions across eight games.

Slovis signed with the Colts in April as an undrafted free agent out of BYU. He was competing against Sam Ehlinger for the emergency quarterback job behind Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco, and Slovis finished the preseason completing 16 of 22 pass attempts for 149 yards across three outings. Slovis will look to catch on with another team should he clear waivers.

Slovis intends to sign with the Colts as an undrafted free agent, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Slovis started his college career at USC and was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2019 before leading the Trojans to a 5-1 record in the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. Slovis struggled the following year and transferred to Pitt for a year before ending at BYU as a fifth-year senior last season. In Indy, Slovis will head into the offseason behind Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco and Sam Ehlinger.
