  • Zah Frazier: Waived by Bears

The Bears waived Frazier on Thursday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Frazier, whom the Bears took in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, subsequently sat out all of last season after being placed on the non-football injury/illness list due a personal issue. Finley notes that in January, GM Ryan Poles said that Frazier had a "mountain to climb" to contribute in 2026 because he missed so much time last season. "He needed to play." Since then, the Bears added depth at Frazier's position by making fellow cornerback Malik Muhammad a fourth-round selection in last month's NFL Draft.

  • Bears' Zah Frazier: Will miss entire rookie season

Bears general manager Ryan Poles said Tuesday that Frazier will remain on the reserve/non-football injury list the entire 2025 campaign for a "personal" reason, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports.

Frazier has been sidelined since spring workouts due to the same issue that will now cause him to miss his entire rookie campaign. Poles said that the 2025 fifth-round pick will participate in meetings, work in the weight room and meet with Chicago's medical staff this season, however, in order to prepare for the 2026 campaign.

  • Bears' Zah Frazier: Going to NFI list

Chicago placed Frazier (undisclosed) on its reserve/non-football injury list Monday.

It's not clear at this point what happened to Frazier, but he now won't be eligible to suit up for the Bears until Week 5 at Washington. Until then, his absence could open up more opportunities at cornerback for Josh Blackwell.

  • Bears' Zah Frazier: Heads to Windy City

The Bears selected Frazier in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 169th overall.

Frazier's college journey started at the juco level at Southern Illinois, but he broke out in 2024 at UTSA when he recorded 24 tackles (20 solo), one forced fumble and nine pass deflections (including six interceptions, which was second-most in the FBS). He showed some inconsistency against tougher competition, but his combination of length and speed profiles him as a bump-and-run outside corner who can stick with receivers through contact.
