Banks went unclaimed on waivers after getting cut with an undisclosed injury Monday, and now he's bound to spend the entire 2026 campaign on the Buccaneers' injured reserve list. He was available for three games in 2025, playing exclusively on special teams.

The Buccaneers waived Banks (undisclosed) on Monday with an injury designation, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The nature and severity of Banks' injury isn't clear, but it may have prevented him from playing in the Buccaneers' 24-16 preseason win over the Jets on Friday. Banks was waived/injured by Tampa Bay in late July and subsequently reverted to IR, but he's now gained an injury settlement and will be eligible to suit up and play in the NFL this season, once fully recovered from his undisclosed injury. The safety went undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2024 and is still looking for a chance to make his regular-season debut.
