Gordon (hamstring) is considered week-to-week, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports. After dealing with a lower-body injury during the offseason, Gordon is now sidelined due to a hamstring issue, but head coach Ben Johnson told reporters he should return before the end of the preseason. • Bears' Kyler Gordon: Signs three-year extension

Gordon and the Bears agreed on a three-year, $40 million contract extension with $31.25 million guaranteed Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gordon will stick around Chicago for the foreseeable future after securing a new deal Sunday. The cornerback is coming off of a 2024 campaign in which he compiled 75 total tackles (48 solo), including 0.5 sacks, while also adding five passes defensed, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries over 15 regular-season games. Gordon will likely operate as the Bears' primary slot cornerback again in 2025, playing alongside Jaylon Johnson (quadriceps) and Tyrique Stevenson.

  • Bears' Kyler Gordon: Posts 75 stops in 2024

Gordon tallied four solo tackles in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday. Gordon posted between four and seven tackles in all but one game this season, and his 75 total tackles (48 solo) across 15 games in 2024 were four more than his previous career high. After picking off five passes in his first two seasons, the cornerback failed to secure any this season. Gordon will go into the last year of his rookie deal, and he should remain a low-ceiling IDP unless he can outperform his career norms.

Gordon tallied six tackles (three solo), defensed a pass and recovered a fumble he forced himself in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Seattle. Gordon stood out on defense in the low-scoring affair. His most impactful play came late in the third quarter, when he forced a Pharaoh Brown fumble and recovered the ball himself. It initially appeared that Gordon recovered the fumble for a touchdown, but replay reversed the call and deemed the cornerback down by contact. Gordon has recovered three fumbles this season, and he's recorded at least three tackles in all 14 games he's played.

  • Bears' Kyler Gordon: Could play in Week 9

Gordon (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals. Gordon upgraded to limited work Friday after recording consecutive DNPs to begin the Bears' week of practice, suggesting that he's trending toward playing Sunday. However, if the third-year pro from Washington misses his second game in a row in Week 9, Josh Blackwell will likely serve as Chicago's top slot corner.

Gordon has had a strong training camp, and he projects to be the Bears' starting slot corner, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports. Gordon struggled as a rookie, playing on the outside in 2022. However, he has been outstanding this summer, and seemingly faces little competition for a starting role defending the slot.

  • Bears' Kyler Gordon: Embracing nickel position

Gordon said Wednesday that he's fully embracing a role as the Bears' nickel cornerback in 2023, Mark Grote of 670TheScore.com reports. Gordon had a successful rookie campaign, posting 71 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He rotated between the slot and outside cornerback spots last year, but he looks like he'll be playing primarily inside in Year 2, meaning that rookie second-round pick Tyrique Stevenson may be the favorite for the starting spot opposite Jaylon Johnson. Moving inside will likely put Gordon in positions to make more impact plays, which should bode well for his IDP production.
