Bears' Sam Roush: Solid gain on one catch
Roush brought in one of two targets for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-15 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday.
The rookie tight end's one catch was especially timely, as it came on fourth down during the Bears' second possession. Roush wrapped up his first pro preseason with a 5-64-0 line on eight targets across three games, and he'll now head into the regular season with a seemingly locked-in No. 3 role behind Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet.

Bears' Sam Roush: Pair of grabs in preseason loss
Roush brought in two of three targets for 30 yards in the Bears' 27-9 preseason loss to the Bengals on Saturday.
The rookie third-round pick came into the game following Colston Loveland and recorded his first catch, a 26-yard grab on first down, late in the first quarter on a pass from Case Keenum. Roush appears slated to open the regular season No. 3 on the tight-end depth chart behind Loveland and Cole Kmet, but given the pass-catching proficiency he displayed in his last three college seasons, the first-year talent could progressively carve out a solid complementary role.

Bears' Sam Roush: Signs rookie deal with Bears
The Bears have signed Roush to a four-year, $7.35 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The Bears thought highly enough of Roush to take the Stanford product in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 69th overall. However, as a rookie, the 6-foot-6, 267 pounder's path to steady targets isn't apparent while working in an offense that returns TEs Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet.

Bears' Sam Roush: Picked by Bears
The Bears selected Roush in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 69th overall.
Roush (6-foot-6, 267 pounds) is a massive tight end and moves well for his build (4.7-second 40-yard dash, 38.5-inch vertical, 126-inch broad jump), but his short arms (30 and 5/8 inches) were a hindrance and a plausible explanation for his poor pass-catching production at Stanford. Athletic as he is, Roush projects more as a blocker than a receiver at the NFL level, and that's even before you account for the fact that Colston Loveland is obviously the featured pass-catching tight end for Chicago's indefinite future.
