Justin Shaffer: Activated to practice squad
Shaffer (undisclosed) was restored to the Falcons' practice squad from their practice squad injured list Wednesday.
Shaffer was placed on Atlanta's practice squad injured list Nov. 21 with an undisclosed issue but has presumably recovered and is now eligible for elevation. The Georgia product was a sixth-round pick by the Falcons in this year's draft and could see some time on the NFL roster over the final two weeks since Atlanta has been eliminated from playoff contention. With guards Chuma Edoga (knee) headed for IR and Jalen Mayfield (back) out for the season, there is some need for depth along Atlanta's offensive line.

Justin Shaffer: Designated to return
The Falcons designated Shaffer (undisclosed) to return from the team's practice squad injured reserve list Wednesday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Shaffer, who was placed on Atlanta's practice squad injured reserve list in November due an unspecified issue, is now slated to resume practicing following Wednesday's transaction. The rookie offensive lineman has yet to receive a promotion to the Falcons' active roster this season, but his next opportunity to do so now comes New Year's Day against Arizona.

Justin Shaffer: Placed on practice squad IR
The Falcons placed Shaffer (undisclosed) on their practice squad injured list Monday.
After drafting Shaffer in the sixth round in the 2022 NFL Draft, Atlanta waived him at the end of August. The offensive lineman was subsequently re-signed to the practice squad, but he hasn't yet seen time at the NFL level. The nature of the issue that necessitated Shaffer's placement on the injured list is uncertain.

The Falcons waived Shaffer on Tuesday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Shaffer was drafted by the Falcons in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, so his release comes as bit of a surprise. The Georgia product started every game for the national champions at left guard in 2021 and earned second-team All-SEC honors.

Falcons' Justin Shaffer: Stays in Peach State
The Falcons selected Shaffer in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 190th overall.
Shaffer is the first Georgia Bulldog to be selected by the Falcons in quite some time. He started every game for the national champions at left guard in 2021 and earned second-team All-SEC honors. Shaffer isn't overly athletic but has solid play strength and can hold his own on the interior.
