  • Lions' Malik Cunningham: Staying in Detroit

The Lions signed Cunningham to a reserve/future contract Monday. Cunningham spent the majority of the 2025 campaign on the Lions' practice squad, playing one offensive snap in his only appearance Week 14 against the Cowboys, logging one carry for one yard. The 27-year-old has transitioned to wide receiver after entering the NFL as a quarterback in 2023, but he has yet to be given much of an opportunity to prove himself at the new position.

  • Malik Cunningham: Goes back to practice squad

Cunningham reverted to Detroit's practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transactions log. Cunningham played just one of the Lions' 62 offensive snaps during Thursday's 44-30 win versus the Cowboys, taking a direct snap for one yard in the middle of the third quarter. The Lions can still elevate him from the practice squad to the active roster two more times this season.

  • Malik Cunningham: Catches on with Detroit

The Lions signed Cunningham to the practice squad Tuesday. Cunningham will get an opportunity with another NFL team after he failed to make the Ravens' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He last saw regular-season action in 2023, when he played one game each with the Patriots and Ravens.

  • Ravens' Malik Cunningham: Staying in Baltimore

The Ravens signed Cunningham to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Cunningham spent the entire 2024 season on the Ravens' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, though he wasn't elevated for a single game. The quarterback turned wideout out of Louisville will be on Baltimore's 90-man roster at the start of the new league year, and he'll have the opportunity to work with the Ravens' coaching staff during OTAs and minicamp and look to earn a spot on the roster for the 2025 campaign.

  • Malik Cunningham: Joins Baltimore's practice squad

The Ravens signed Cunningham to their practice squad Wednesday, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports. The former quarterback turned wide receiver had an impressive offseason in Baltimore, so it's no surprise that he's been brought back to the team's practice squad after failing to make the initial 53-man roster. Cunningham appeared in two regular-season games last season with the Ravens and Patriots, recording no stats while playing just 10 total snaps.

  • Ravens' Malik Cunningham: Makes switch to wideout

Baltimore officially listed Cunningham as a wide receiver during OTAs, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. Cunningham has gotten reps at wide receiver since the Ravens brought him on board back in December, and his transition to the new position (from quarterback) is now officially complete. He's part of a relatively thin wide receiver room, so he could very well find his way onto Baltimore's final 2024 roster if he impresses during training camp.

  • Ravens' Malik Cunningham: Inactive Sunday

Cunningham (coach's decision) is listed as inactive ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins. Cunningham was claimed off waivers by the Ravens earlier in the month, but he has yet to suit up. While he is the fourth quarterback on the depth chart, the versatile player was also expected to practice with the wide receiver group. His next chance to debut with the team will come in the regular-season finale next week versus the Steelers.

  • Malik Cunningham: Gets cut Tuesday

The Patriots waived Cunningham on Tuesday. New England signed Cunningham off its practice squad ahead of a Week 6 matchup with the Raiders, and the undrafted rookie proceeded to play six offensive snaps and record no stats. He then was inactive this past Sunday versus the Bills. Following Tuesday's transaction, Cunningham is a candidate to end up back on the Patriots' practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Patriots' Malik Cunningham: Suits up as top backup

Cunningham is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Meanwhile, Bailey Zappe is listed as the Patriots' emergency third QB on Sunday, while Will Grier is inactive. As a result, the versatile Cunningham slots in as the team's No. 2 QB behind Mac Jones in Week 6 and could also potentially see some snaps on designed plays, per Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site.

  • Malik Cunningham: Joins New England's practice squad

Cunningham is signing with New England's practice squad, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports. Cunningham's joined by Bailey Zappe on the practice squad, as Mac Jones is the only quarterback that the Patriots kept on the initial 53-man roster. Zappe will almost certainly be brought back onto the roster come the regular season, but it remains to be seen if the same is true for Cunningham, who was used as a wildcat quarterback and wide receiver in training camp.

  • Malik Cunningham: Let go by Pats

The Patriots have waived Cunningham, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. With Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relaying Tuesday that Bailey Zappe is also being waived, Mac Jones is currently the only QB left on the Patriots' roster. Look for additional moves to be made by the team in short order, with Cunningham presumably being a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.

  • Patriots' Malik Cunningham: Sees work as a receiver

Cunningham, who joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent this spring, has been seeing work at wide receiver during OTAs, Nick O'Malley of masslive.com reports. The Patriots reportedly signed Cunningham to a deal with $200,000 guaranteed, the most the team has ever spent on an undrafted player. During his college career at Louisville, Cunningham (who New England lists at 6-0, 188 pounds) played quarterback, but with Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe and Trace McSorley already in the team's signal-caller mix, the rookie's versatility could be his ticket to securing a roster spot this coming season.

  • Malik Cunningham: Heading to New England

Cunningham is expected to sign with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Cunningham played 10 games for Louisville last season, completing 62.4 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and five interceptions while adding 565 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 114 carries. His 120 total touchdowns over five seasons with Louisville broke the school record previously owned by Lamar Jackson. While undersized and inconsistent with his throwing mechanics, he is an instinctive athlete with natural running ability that will help him compete at the NFL level.
