Texans' Reed Blankenship: Ruled out with concussion
Blankenship (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.
Blankenship was deemed to have a concussion by one of the NFL's independent neurologists. The safety has now entered the league's five-step concussion protocol and will not participate in full-contact practices or games until he is cleared. M.J. Stewart will likely finish the game at strong safety alongside Calen Bullock.

Texans' Reed Blankenship: Being evaluated for concussion
Blankenship is being evaluated for a possible concussion and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
Blankenship took a hit to the head late in the first half and was carted to the locker room, where he will be evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return to Sunday's game. M.J. Stewart will fill in at safety alongside Calen Bullock for as long as Blankenship is out of the contest.

Blankenship made 11 tackles (five solo) in the Texans' 34-30 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
Blankenship played 73 defensive snaps in the contest, 94 percent of the Texans' total defensive plays. The 27-year-old also played four special-teams snaps in the losing effort. The strong safety's 11 tackles were second to outside linebacker Jake Hansen's 12.

Texans' Reed Blankenship: Picks off Jones in Week 3 loss
Blankenship posted nine tackles (five solo) and two pass defenses (including one interception) during the Texans' 19-17 loss to the Colts in Week 3.
Blankenship recorded his first interception of the season early in the third quarter, when he jumped in front of a floating pass from Danny Jones that was intended for Josh Downs deep in Houston's territory. It was Blankenship's second interception over the past two years after recording a career-high four picks across 15 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024. His presence in the secondary will be crucial in Week 4 when the Texans welcome in the Cowboys, whose offense ranks in the top-10 in the league in points per game (29.3).

Texans' Reed Blankenship: Heading to Houston
The Texans are signing Blankenship to a three-year, $24.75 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
An undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee, Blankenship emerged as a key contributor to the Eagles' defense since joining the team in May of 2022. He finished with 83 tackles (53 solo), four pass defenses (one interception), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season games in 2025 while playing over 1,000 defensive snaps for the first time in his NFL career. The Texans boasted one of the best defensive units in the league in 2025, and the addition of Blankenship bolsters a strong secondary that also includes Derek Stingley, Kamari Lassiter, Jalen Pitre and Jaylen Reed.
