Top Barryn Sorrell News

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Mostly uninvolved as rookie

Sorrell recorded 15 tackles (seven solo), including 1.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery in 14 regular-season games with Green Bay in 2025.

Micah Parsons (knee) and Rashan Gary played the lion's share of the Packers' available snaps at defensive end in 2025, and Sorrell logged just three games with more than 15 defensive snaps, including Green Bay's wild-card loss at Chicago. With all of Parsons, Gary and Lukas Van Ness on track to be under contract with the Packers again in 2026, it's likely Sorrell will still be playing in a rotational role in his second year as a pro. However, with Parsons having suffered a December ACL tear, Sorrell should see at least a few more opportunities.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Set for NFL debut

Sorrell (knee) does not carry an injury designation into Thursday's contest against the Commanders, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.

Sorrell suffered a knee injury in the team's second preseason contest in mid-August, which forced him to miss both the team's preseason finale against Seattle and the regular-season opener versus the Lions. He is now a full go ahead of Week 2, and he'll look to make a splash in his NFL debut.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Estimated as limited Monday

Sorrell (knee) was listed as a limited on Monday's practice estimation, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Sorrell was injured during the preseason and missed Green Bay's Week 1 opener against the Lions. After being limited at the end of the practice week last week, Sorrell would seem to be nearing a return. It's unclear if he'll be available to make his regular-season NFL debut this coming Thursday night against Washington.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Not playing Sunday

Sorrell (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

A left knee injury limited Sorrell in practice this past week, and the issue is severe enough for him to be sidelined for Sunday's NFC North clash. The rookie fourth-rounder's next opportunity to make his NFL regular-season debut is Thursday against the Commanders.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Questionable to play Week 1

Sorrell (knee) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Wes Hodklewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

The rookie fourth-rounder has been limited in practice all week while tending to a left knee injury. If healthy, Sorrell is expected to serve in a rotational role at defensive end and could see additional work on defense if the Packers elect to limit Micah Parsons' (back) snap count.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Still nursing knee injury

Sorrell (knee) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday.

Sorrell suffered a knee injury during the Packers' second preseason game at Indianapolis, and it's still bothering him wth the regular-season opener less than a week away. He'll probably have to practice in full Thursday or Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Exits game with knee injury

Sorrell left in the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Colts due to a knee injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Sorrell appeared to suffer the injury while making a tackle on punt coverage. He was able to walk off the field under his own power before heading into the blue medical tent, and given that it's the preseason, it's unlikely that the rookie fourth-rounder returns to the game.

  • Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Green Bay adds pass rusher

The Packers selected Sorrell in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 124th overall.

Sorrell (6-foot-3, 256 pounds) was a quality three-year starter at Texas, where he produced workmanlike box scores (15.5 sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss in his final 43 games) and provided a steadying, consistent presence for the Longhorns. Sorrell's competent but modest production led to the assumption that he must lack athleticism, but Sorrell quietly posted very good numbers at the 2025 NFL Combine, with his speed (4.68-second 40), explosiveness (121-inch broad jump) and quickness (7.06-second three-cone drill) all grading safely above average. If Lukas Van Ness fails to claim the starting role opposite Rashan Gary, Sorrell might eventually make his way into Green Bay's starting lineup.
