  • Dolphins' Cole Strange: Headed to Miami

The Dolphins signed Strange from the Browns' practice squad to the active roster Tuesday. The move solidifies the Dolphins' depth at guard after James Daniels (pectoral) was placed on injured reserve. Strange caught on with the Browns' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Patriots' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 2022 first-rounder will step into a reserve role on Miami's offensive line.

  • Cole Strange: Heads to practice squad

Strange signed with the Browns' practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Strange gets a clean break from the Patriots, who drafted him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft before waiving him Tuesday. The Chattanooga product made 29 starts over three seasons and will aim to earn a promotion to the Browns' active roster in 2025.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Option not exercised

The Patriots won't exercise Strange's fifth-year option, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. The 2022 first-round pick from Chattanooga has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, appearing in just 13 regular-season contests. Thus, it's no surprise that Patriots' are declining to exercise his fifth-year option. Although Strange is currently back at full health, the offseason addition of Garrett Bradbury via free agency likely means he'll serve as a depth piece on New England's offensive line.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Cleared to make 2024 debut

Strange (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills. Strange was placed on the Patriots' reserve/PUP list at the start of the regular season due to a knee injury he suffered in December of 2023. He's managed to progress enough in his recovery to play Sunday, though it's unclear whether he'll start Sunday or serve in a depth role.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Activated of PUP

The Patriots activated Strange (knee) off the reserve/PUP list Tuesday. Strange is one-step closer to making his return to the field for the first time since suffering a knee injury Week 15 last season. If the 2022 first-round pick manages to play Sunday versus the Cardinals, he would provide New England some much-needed help along the offensive line.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Limited in return

Strange (knee) was a limited participant during practice Wednesday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. Strange was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list earlier Wednesday, and this was his first practice session of any kind this season. So, it makes sense the team would take it slow with the 26-year-old. He'll have an opportunity to ramp up his activity level Thursday and Friday, before any determination for his status for Sunday's game against the Dolphins is likely given.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Still not ready to practice

Coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that Strange (knee) won't be returning from injured reserve for Week 11, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Strange has sat out the entire season up to this point as he's recovered from a torn patella tendon he suffered near the end of last year, and there's still no concrete timetable for his return. With that said, there is still hope he'll be able to suit up at some point later in 2024.

  • Patriots' Cole Strange: Expected to play this season

Strange (knee), who remains on the reserve/PUP list without an exact return timetable, is expected to play this season, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports. Strange has already missed a requisite four games since opening the regular season on the PUP list, and while New England hasn't offered an actionable timetable for his return, the left guard is expected to contribute at some point this year. The 2022 first-round pick is recovering from a left patella tendon tear suffered Week 15 of the 2023 season.

Strange (knee) is expected to miss the start of the regular season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The starting guard missed New England's first day of OTAs while continuing to rehab from the knee issue he sustained in Week 15 versus Kansas City last year, with coach Jerod Mayo calling him "month-to-month." Per Chad Graff of The Athletic, the Patriots started Sidy Sow and Nick Leverett at guard to kick off OTAs.
