  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Out for Week 9

Ham (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions. Ham will miss his second straight contest after being injured in Week 7. The veteran fullback has logged just 24 offensive snaps this season.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Back-to-back DNPs to open week

Ham (hand) did not participate in Thursday's practice. Ham was unable to play against the Chargers in Week 8 due to a hand injury he picked up against the Eagles in Week 7. He's missed the first two practices of Week 9 prep, and he'll have to practice in at least a limited capacity Friday to have a realistic chance of playing against the Lions on Sunday. Without another fullback on the active roster, the Vikings would continue to lean on tight ends Josh Oliver (foot) and Ben Yurosek to handle backfield blocking duties if Ham is not cleared to play.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Won't play vs. Bolts

Ham (hand) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Chargers, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. Ham was a DNP at practice during the condensed week due to a left hand injury that he sustained against the Eagles on Sunday, and the veteran fullback will be sidelined for Thursday's game as a result. The Vikings don't have another fullback on the roster, but they could use tight ends such as Josh Oliver, Ben Yurosek and practice squad member Nick Vannett as blockers out of the backfield for Week 8. Ham's next opportunity to play is Week 9 against the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 2.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Hurts hand in loss

Ham underwent medical evaluation for a left hand injury after Sunday's loss to the Eagles, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Ham had one reception for five yards in the loss. It was his first carry or reception of the season, as he's used almost exclusively as a blocker.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Iffy for London game

Ham (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns in London. The fullback missed the Vikings' first four games of the season while recovering from a knee injury but could be ready to make his 2025 debut after turning in a trio of full practices this week. Ham currently remains on injured reserve, so the Vikings will need to add him back to the 53-man roster by Saturday in order for him to be eligible to play in Week 5.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Practice window opens

Ham (knee) was designated to return from injured reserve and practiced in full Wednesday. The 32-year-old was unable to participate in the Vikings' first four games this season due to a knee injury, but following Monday's full practice, his return seems imminent. Ham now has 21 days to be added to Minnesota's active roster before reverting to IR. Once healthy, he's likely to serve as the team's top fullback, contributing both on offense and special teams.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Undergoes procedure on ankle

Ham underwent surgery Wednesday to address an ankle injury, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Ham was listed on the Vikings' injury report toward the end of the season due to an ankle injury, but it wasn't significant enough for him to miss a single game in 2024. The veteran fullback should have enough time to fully recover before OTAs begin.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Handles seven touches in 2024

Ham finished the 2024 season with five catches for 35 yards on six targets and two rushes for 10 yards and one touchdown across 17 regular-season games. Ham played 262 offensive snaps across the 17 contests, and he saw another 282 snaps on special teams. The 31-year-old fullback has spent all eight seasons of his career with Minnesota and is under contract for one more season at a salary of $2.55 million. The Vikings are flush with 2025 cap space at the moment, but they have the quarterback situation to figure out and a load of potential free agents. Releasing the lightly used Ham would clear $2.65 million against the cap.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Good to go against Seattle

Ham (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Ham popped up on Thursday's injury report due to an ankle injury. He was limited in Friday's practice, but he's managed to progress enough in his recovery to be cleared to play Sunday. Ham gives the Vikings blocking out of the backfield and he'll look to open up space in the run game for Aaron Jones and Cam Akers.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Scores TD in win

Ham had two carries for 10 yards, including a two-yard touchdown, in Sunday's win over the Jets in London. They were Ham's first two rushing attempts of the season. He's almost exclusively a blocking fullback who will get a few goal-line carries per season. Even if Aaron Jones misses time with a hip injury, don't expect Ham to see a meaningful increase in touches.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: No touches for second straight week

Ham played 18 of the Vikings' 72 snaps on offense and failed to log a carry or draw a target in the team's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. The 5-foot-11, 250-pound fullback has now gone without a touch for the second week in a row, though that's not too unexpected after he combined for no carries and only four targets over the first three games of the season. Ham will continue to serve primarily as a blocker whenever he's on the field.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Extends tenure in Minnesota

Ham agreed Wednesday with the Vikings on a two-year contract extension, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Ham has spent the entirety of his seven-year career with the Vikings. While the 29-year-old saw a diminished role within head coach Kevin O'Connell's offense in 2022, he's still one of the more utilized fullbacks in the NFL, playing on both offense and special teams. Ham will look to have a similar role next season and continue to help open up holes for Dalvin Cook and the rest of the run game.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Scores rushing TD

Ham had one carry for a two-yard touchdown in Sunday's win at Buffalo. It was just his second carry of the season and second rushing TD of his career. Ham played on just six of the offense's 80 snaps, as he's had a minimal role under new head coach Kevin O'Connell.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Records two catches Sunday

Ham hauled in two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Lions. Though he was only on the field for 11 snaps on offense, Ham had two key receptions on the first of the Vikings' two touchdown drives in the second quarter. With Dalvin Cook (shoulder) uncertain to suit up Week 4 against the Saints, Ham could see a modest uptick in snaps with one less option available out of the backfield. However, the fullback is unlikely to see an appreciable increase in touches as a runner or pass catcher, as Alexander Mattison would step into Cook's three-down lead role if Cook ends up sitting out in New Orleans.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Just three snaps Monday

Ham played just three snaps on offense in Monday's loss at Philadelphia and didn't get a carry or target. The Vikings didn't utilize a fullback when they fell behind early and were forced to pass the ball. Ham hasn't been a fantasy factor with few touches per game in the past, but his role under new head coach Kevin O'Connell could dry up as the team focuses on the passing game.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Smaller role in season debut

Ham had one reception for six yards on his lone target and did not have a carry in Sunday's win over Green Bay. Ham played on just 14 of the offense's 62 snaps. That's less than his average last season (21 snaps per game) despite the Vikings playing with a large lead. He may see a reduced role under new head coach Kevin O'Connell, not that he has been a fantasy factor with few touches per game in the past.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Catches both targets in loss

Ham caught both of his targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Rams. Ham was dealing with a hamstring injury during the week, but he was ultimately active for the contest and was able to play 36 total snaps (20 on offense). On the season, the fullback has totaled 15 catches for 117 yards, but he'll likely remain a fantasy afterthought during Minnesota's divisional showdown with the Packers in Week 17.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Active for Week 16

Ham (hamstring) is active for Sunday's contest against the Rams. Ham tweaked his hamstring during the Vikings' win over the Bears on Monday Night Football, but he is ready to go for Week 16. The fullback doesn't garner much fantasy consideration, but his presence should be a boost to a Minnesota run game that will rely heavily on Alexander Mattison with Dalvin Cook sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Catches lone target

Ham had a 19-yard reception on his lone target during Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Lions. Ham played 25 of 76 offensive snaps and took advantage of his lone touch by rumbling 19 yards during the third quarter. The 28-year-old has seven carries for 34 yards and 12 receptions for 101 yards through 12 games this season, and he doesn't offer any fantasy appeal as a fullback.

  • Vikings' C.J. Ham: Has 30 yards rushing

Ham had one carry for 30 yards in Sunday's win at Carolina. It was just Ham's fifth carry on the season and the second longest run of his career. Ham is almost strictly a blocking fullback in Minnesota's offense, so don't expect many more touches, even with Sunday's success.
